Monster Hunter Riseintroduced Magnamalo as its Flagship monster, but it felt under-utilized as players were able to defeat it pretty early in the story. But with the release of the Sunbreak expansion, Magnamalo received a devilish new variant, Scorned Magnamalo.

However, players needed clarification about how to unlock this new hell-like beast. This guide will helpMonster Hunter Rise: Sunbreakplayers unlock and defeat a Scorned Magnamalo.
How To Unlock Scorned Magnamalo
First and foremost, Scorned Magnamalo can only be fought and defeated when players reach Master-Rank level 100. It’s a similar experience for players trying to unlock the High-Rank versionof Crimson Glow Valstrax, which could only be unlocked by earning Hunter-Rank level 100.
After defeating Scorned Magnamalo the first time, it will join other monsters like Furious Rajang in the 6-Star Master-Rank quest list. However, before attempting to fight the Hellfire beast, players should first understand and learn what they’re about to go up against.

How To Defeat Scorned Magnamalo
Like a Furious Rajang, a Scorned Magnamalo is a variant that is always in its Enraged Hellfire mode. It also boasts large arm blades and shows off scars like the one on its eye. Hunters have perceived that this unique variant is a much older Magnamalo who could only achieve this new form from years of countless battles. Some have also debated whether this could be the original Magnamalo that initially started the Rampages 50 years ago in Kamura. Nonetheless, this particular Magnamalo is no walk in the park compared to its counterparts.
For starters, Scorned Magnamalo is still very weak to the Water element and has a minor weakness to Thunder. It retains the same moveset as a normal Magnamalo but now has a couple more tricks up its sleeve. For example, since it’s always in its Hellfire state, most of the beast’s attacks will inflict the Hellfire blight on hunters. Hellfire blight is reminiscent of Blast blight from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, where after a short period of time, the blight will detonate on players and deal a small amount of damage. This can be avoided by repeatedly evading and wiredashing away to remove it.

When Scorned Magnamalo becomes fully enraged, it also brings a few moves to the table. For example, Magnamalo are well known for launching a wave of Hellfire against players. However, when fully enraged, it can now launch these waves up to two to three times, and this also applies to its laser Hellfire attack.
Finally, it has a new ultimate move, the Hellfire Explosion. When dealt enough damage, the camera will begin to zoom out as Scorned Magnamalo starts charging up a new red Hellfire energy. Players will have a brief opportunity to run as far away as possible as it will then unleash the energy in a massive explosion. Any hunters caught close to it will surely meet their doom. If a player feels like they will be tooclose to Magnamalo whenit unleashes the blast, they can perform a dolphin dive to avoid the incoming damage. Otherwise, players should take their time and prepare, as the Monster Hunter Rise Flagship monster will be looking to settle some old scores.
