At the end of the fourth episode ofNew Tales From the Borderlands, Anu, Octavio, and Fran find themselves in a bad situation that is rapidly getting worse. They thought they would be safe from Tediore if they took shelter provided by their investor, Angel.
Unfortunately for them, that ended up being a carefully laid trap by the CEO of Tediore, Susan Coldwell. With Coldwell in possession of both the green and red shards, things are not looking good for Promethea or anyone else in the galaxy. But this walkthrough will show players how to complete the fifth and final episode ofNew Tales From the Borderlands.

Memories
After Marcus is finished summarizingthe previous episode, the scene switches to Anu as she wakes up and has a lengthy conversation with the entity that exists within the green shard. Anu experiences a memory from when she was working at Atlas still, but it proves to be an out-of-body experience for her as she is in the body of a Jabber. There are several dialogue options as the scene progresses, butthere are no major choices that players need to worry about.
The Rest of the Group
The scene switches to Octavio as he gets thrown into a jail cell. As he lies there, Octavio is uncharacteristically despondent. The guards are unable to shake him out of it, and as the scene ends, Brock shows up outside the cell. Meanwhile, Fran is being taken backto the replica of her froyo shopto be executed there. The scene switches back to Octavio as Brock tries to cheer him up.
During this scene, Brock accidentally lets it slip that they are not allowed to kill Octavio. Seeing this as an opportunity to escape, Octavio grabs Brock and takes himself hostage. After Octavio makes his escape, the scene switches back to Fran as she manages to break out of the ice she was trapped in and kills the two Tediore soldiers that were going to execute her.
Build a Bridge
While all of this is happening, Anu relives the memory of when she and Octavio had a heated argument that created a rift between them in the first place. For this part,it is recommended that players select the dialogue options where Anu realizes she was a bad sister.
Once that is done, there will be a series of QTEs (Quick Time Events) where playerswill need to move blocks floating in the air and place them down to form a bridge.Once that is finished, Anu is able to reach Octavio and make peace with him.

Octavio’s Escape Plan
After Fran’s battle, the scene switches to Octavio as he continues to escape by holding himself hostage. He is soon confrontedby two Tediore guardswho, in response to seeing Octavio holding himself hostage, aim guns at themselves to try and get Octavio to put his gun down.
At this point, a QTE will pop up for pulling the trigger. Players must deliberately fail this QTE, or they will get a game over.
If players have Octavio do nothing, the two guards will kill themselves, and the story will advance.
Should Octavio Shoot Bivington Bradwick or Ignore Him?
Before Octavio can go much further, he is stopped by Bivington Bradwick, the guy who lured him into a cage in Episode 4. Bivington makes his own attempt to get Octavio to put the gun down by promising to help him become famous. After that, players are presented with two options.Octavio can either shoot Bivington or ignore him and move on.For this walkthrough, Octavio chose to ignore him and keep going.
After players choose how to deal with that situation,Octavio finds L0U13 and Fran. Together they look for where Anu is being kept, but instead, they end up finding Susan Coldwell’s office. This is the first free-roam section of Episode 5. In order to advance the story,New Tales From the Borderlandsplayers will need to find Anu’s location. Before doing anything else,players should check the floor for a spot with a red X.On that spot is a Vaultlander figurine. When players approach it,Superfan will show up one last time.Upon defeating him, players get a figurine of Handsome Jack.
Find Anu
Aftergetting the Vaultlander figurine, players can resume the search for Anu’s location. The first thing players will need to do ischeck the statue behind Susan’s desk to steal her ECHOdex. After they have the ECHOdex, the next step is to check the computer on the desk. After a brief cutscene, a wall will open up and reveal a terminal. Finally, players will need to hack the terminal, and the story will advance.
Anu and the Shard
The scene will switch to Anu in another free-roam section. This section is pretty straightforward, as players simply have to follow the green light. Along the way, the light will turn intocharacters that Anu has interacted withand talk to her. Meanwhile, Susan Coldwell is making no progress in her attempts to have the green shard removed from Anu. A distraction lures Coldwell away, and she leaves a single Tediore soldier to guard Anu.

A Familiar Face
As L0U13, Fran, and Octavio arrive at the laboratory where Anu is being kept, the guard tries to stop them. But the guard isn’t acting like a normal Tediore employee. They take off their helmet, and it turns out to be Stapleface, the woman that Anu inadvertentlyrescued during Episode 1.
At this point,players can choose to have Octavio either move and protect Anu or have him tackle Stapleface. Regardless of what they choose, Anu wakes up soon after. The group decides that the best option is to stop Coldwell, especially now that the ship they were taken to is up in Space.
Toward Susan Coldwell
From here, a series of cutscenes will play. There is the occasional QTE, and then eventually, players will be pinned down by an enhanced version of Brock. At that point, a hacking mini-game will start. In order to proceed, players will need toturn off Brock’s Barrel and Magazine while turning on his Safety.Doing so will disable Brock entirely, and players will be able to safely get past him. From here, there will be several series of QTEs. As the group closes in on Coldwell, they lose Stapleface and L0U13 along the way. Unfortunately,there are no choices that players can make along the way to prevent that.
Should Anu Accept or Reject the Shard?
As players arrive at the bridge, they will have to make one last major choice. Anu must eitheraccept the shard or reject it.This final choicehas a significant impact on the ending, so players should think carefully. For this walkthrough, Anu decided to reject the Shard. The trio works together and finds a way to rescue Anu while shutting down Coldwell’s doomsday weapon. In order to do that, players will need to choose the correct options when deactivating the weapon. Players will wantto turn off the lock and turn on the self-destruct.Failing to do so willresult in agame over.
Beat Susan Coldwell
Left with no other option, Coldwell will combine the two shards and transform into a godlike entity.All players need to do at this point is go through a lengthy series of QTEs, and they will defeat Susan Coldwell and have successfully beatenNew Tales From the Borderlands.
