New Worldwas released more than a year ago, and some profound changes have taken place since then. One of them was theHeart of Madness updatethat included more lore, more bug fixes, and more weapons. One of the new items introduced was the blunderbuss, a ranged weapon that scaled with two Attribute points,StrengthandIntelligence.

Players can pick up a blunderbuss as a drop from an enemy,buy one from their faction quartermaster, or be rewarded one for a completed quest. One other option would be to craft a blunderbuss, and it’s an easy process. Some distinctive blunderbuss weapons can be crafted at higher levels, so players that want to use the blunderbuss as one of their main weapons should also prioritize leveling up theirEngineeringskills.
The blunderbuss requires two Attributes to use effectively, and there’s also some allowance forConsitutionwhen it comes to hit points, so players that want to use the blunderbuss at lower levels should prepare for a slower but perhaps more interesting progression.
The Blunderbuss
One of the newest additions to theNew Worldarmory, the blunderbuss has been available to characters since March of 2022. It’s less precise than other ranged weapons, such as the bow or musket, but has more useful abilities at close range.

The two branches of the Blunderbuss Mastery Tree areContainmentandChaos, with the titles describing their basic strengths and weaknesses.Containmentis more about crowd control and precise strikes andChaosspecializes in AoE damage.
Crafting A Blunderbuss
Gems and Perks can be added manually to weapons as they are being crafted, but sometimes random Perks are applied to weapons during this process by chance. Gather a good pile of materials and make a few blunderbuss weapons at once for a higher chance to get an Uncommon quality item with better Perks and Attribute buffs.
One thing that everyone always liked aboutNew Worldwas the crafting options. The process is designed to be intuitive and the resources and recipes are clearly listed regardless of the skill or character level.

Crafted Blunderbuss Weapons
Players that want to level using a blunderbuss cantake advantage of the Crafting optionsavailable in the Workshop. Rare and Epic blunderbuss weapons are also craftable provided their Engineering skill is high enough and the Workshop is at the correct Tier level.
