It’s been some time sinceHollow Knight: Silksongwas first revealed by Team Cherry via a developer diary trailer back in early 2019. ThoughHollow Knight: Silksongbegan as DLC forHollow Knight, the game has since transformed into much more.

Unfortunately, fans have not had much of a chance to see just how Team Cherry plans to shake things up withSilksong, as the team hasn’t shown too much of the game in action to the public in the years following its announcement. Sadly, it looks like the waiting game will continue for a bit, as a member of Team Cherry’s marketing and publishing team has confirmed that no news will come from Team Cherry regardingHollow Knight: Silksongat E3 2021.

The news comes by way of Matthew Griffin, the aforementioned member of Team Cherry, through Discord. Griffin’s message, which states that the developer “does not have any announcements/blogs scheduled for E3 this year,” appears to have been meant to temper fans expectations with E3 2021 on the horizon. Fans have been hoping for news surrounding the game at nearly every digital event for months now, such as recently hoping to seeSilksongsurface at Nintendo’s Indie Showcase eventin April. However,Silksongdid not make an appearance and Nintendo’s Indie Showcase, and hasn’t surfaced much at all since its reveal.

In fact, one of the most recent information blowouts fromHollow Knight: Silksongcame from Edge Magazine’sDecember 31 issue. Thanks to Edge’s coverage, fans learned a ton of new details about the game and about what other projects Team Cherry has been working on aside fromHollow Knight: Silksong. Though, it’s still important to keep in mind that Edge’s coverage was four months ago, which is a decent chunk of time for no other significant news to surface about the game since. As such, fans have certainly gotten antsy regarding how things are coming along withSilksong’s development.

Still, fans seem to be taking the news fairly well, all things considered. Many posts on theHollow Knightsubreddit thread that was created surrounding Griffin’s Discord thread were respectful of the news, with some fans finding the morbid humor in the lack of news surroundingSilksongat large. One fan going by the username Buttertoto2002 made a joke remarking that “At least I’ve still gotElden Ringto be disappointed about when it’s not at E3.” Comparisons betweenHollow Knight: SilksongandElden Ringhave been made for some time now, with many memes addressing how both fanbases have been starved for significant news since each game’s reveal.

WhileElden RingandSilksongwill likely share more than just a lack of news, seeing asHollow Knight’s influence from theSoulsseriesis clear, for now fans of both titles are simply bonding through the lack of news. Sadly, it looks as thoughSilksongfans are just going to have to continue holding out for more news surrounding the title.
