Nvidia has already announced that it will launch the 16GB variant of the GeForce RTX 4060Ti this month but has not given an exact date yet, however, leaks suggest that the card may launch on July 18. More importantly, it seems as if neither Nvidia nor its partners are willing to send the GPUs out for review. If this is true, those looking forward to day 1 benchmarks of the RTX 4060Ti with 16GB VRAM would likely be out of luck, unless reviewers manage to get their hands on the graphics card through retailers in time.

The GeForce RTX 4060Tilaunched in Maywith 8GB VRAM and received a lukewarm response from the community. The card is priced at $399 for the Founders Edition (FE) and a bit more for the board partner cards. Nvidia also announced a 16GB VRAM variant of the card that it said will be coming in July but left out the actual date. Notably, last week, aleak on Twittersuggested a July 18 launch date for the GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB. Twitter user @Zed__Wang shared what seems to be the embargo timeline for the card, and it shows the on-shelf date as July 18.

With just about a week left before the speculated release, it seems as if neither Nvidia nor its partners are amped about the launch. Typically, with a GPU launch, Nvidia is somewhat involved in the launch/ review process as it asks for a list of influences and reviewers from its board partners, decides when reviewers can publish their results, and oversees the testing process. But with the GeForce RTX 4060Ti 16GB, it seems to be taking a back seat, and so are the board partners. Furthermore, there will be no Founders Edition of the 16GB variant, unlike the 8GB model.

Known reviewer Hardware Unboxed recentlyshared on Twitterthat neither Nvidia nor the partners are keen on providing GPUs for review. As per the post, all the Nvidia partners they reached out to said they will not be providing review samples and that they’re not even sure when their version of the card will be available. If this remains to be the case, there will not be sufficient coverage on the RTX 4060Ti 16GB at launch and proper benchmarking numbers will not be available for those looking to get the card early.

In the past, reviewers have been able to get their hands on a GPU through retailers before the embargo and do their testing so they can have the data available at launch. For now, it is unclear if the same will be possible for the RTX 4060Ti 16GB.

As for the price, the 16GB variant is expected to cost $100 more than the 8GB variant which means it will retail for $499 or higher at launch, since there is no FE version. The price point seems to make the card look even more unattractive, seeing as how theRTX 4060Ti 8GBitself is not good value at $399.
