Summary

With the first half ofPokemon ScarletandViolet’s DLC now out and expectations high for its second half as the story dives into the mystery of Area Zero, one Gen 9 Pokemon could also do with a closer look after its Pokedex entry hints at deeper connections. Besides the Ultra Beast Nihilego, the introduction of Glimmet and its evolution Glimmora stood out amongPokemon ScarletandViolet’s new Pokemon for its unusual type combination of Rock/Poison. Combined with its signature move and ability as well as its use by Pokemon Champion Geeta, Glimmora seemed to have been positioned as a Pokemon of significant interest.

Yet while Glimmet and Glimmora can be found in the latestScarletandVioletDLC, the games have yet to touch on how this distinctive Pokemon line relates to Area Zero and the phenomenon of Terastallization. After all, among various other clues that tease the two Pokemon’s relationship toScarletandViolet’s battle gimmick, it is Glimmora’sVioletPokedex entry that raises some interesting questions. With this enigmaticPokedex entry and The Indigo Diskset to release later this year, there could be more to potentially see from this Gen 9 Pokemon line that will factor into the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.

Glimmora’s Terastallization Connection Teased in Pokemon Violet

BetweenScarletandViolet’s Pokedex entries that teasehidden details, it isViolet’sentry for Glimmora that specifically mentions the Pokemon’s petals were recently compared to Tera Jewels that form as part of the Terastallization process. This alone might have been a coincidence and could have even tied into the same ideas behind convergent evolution thatScarletandVioletalso explore of nature repeating itself. But given that Glimmora only ever appeared in the wild in Area Zero prior to The Teal Mask DLC, this connection between it and Terastallization continues to grow even stronger.

For instance, alongside Area Zero’s Glimmora population, other clues can be found by exploring this idea further. While the recurring six-pointed star as seen with Terastallization seems to align with Glimmora’s own six-pointed petal design, the recently revealedTerapagos and the nineteenth Tera Typealso add to this with the imagery of hexagons. Additionally, Glimmora has now also appeared in The Teal Mask in the wild near the Crystal Pool, and since the Pokedex also categorizes Glimmet and Glimmora as Ore Pokemon, there is enough evidence to suggest that this particular Pokemon line has a direct, intrinsic connection to Terastallization that has yet to be explained.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC Should Reveal More About Terastallization

So unlike the Paradox Pokemon found roaming Area Zero, Glimmora’s relationship to the mysterious location could come down to one of two options, where either its appearance has evolved as a result of the nearby Tera Jewels or the Pokemon originated from the Tera Jewels themselves. Since the Pokemon has now appeared outside of Area Zero, it seems the most likely explanation is the latter and that Glimmet and Glimmora arePokemon created by the Terastal phenomenon. But without any official confirmation, the Glimmet line’s connection to Terastallization and Area Zero remains purely speculative.

As there is still one more part ofScarletandViolet’s DLC left to go, there is hope that players will still have a chance to learn more about Terastallization and Glimmora itself. It is perhaps just as well thatThe Indigo Disk will also introduce the Legendary PokemonTerapagos which has its own strange connections to Terastallization, suggesting that the second DLC is already planning to explore these mysteries further. Though it would be unlikely that Glimmora would take a great deal of focus if this was the case, the DLC should at least still provide some background lore or storylines to affirm its ties to Terastallization.
