Setting Things In Motion
InOne Piecechapter 1068, CP0 started its mission toeliminate the bodies of Vegapunk. The first satellite that ended up receiving a severe beating was Atlas. She charged toward CP0 with the intention of beating them up, but within seconds she was defeated by Rob Lucci. The Cipher Pol agent wasted no time in using his devil fruit ability and the resulting attack caused severe damage to Atlas.
Considering the power of his attack, Atlas should have died, but luckily she managed to survive. Before Lucci could attack her again, he saw Luffy running across the laboratory. The two acknowledged each other’s presence, and it seemed obvious that they would soon start fighting each other.

Better and Stronger
Luffy fought against Rob Lucci in the Enies Lobby arc. The fight proved to be decisive in the careers of both characters. After ordering to shoot down the flag of the World Government, Luffy firmly established himself as one of the biggest threats to its authority. His reputation increased further as he defeated the strongest CP9 member. In the case of Rob Lucci, he waskicked out of CP9, but it didn’t take him long to be promoted to CP0. Despite being promoted, a person like Lucci could never forget about Luffy and how the latter embarrassed him.
Clearly, Lucci still holds a grudge against the pirate, which became evident when he didn’t even think twice before attacking Luffy on Egghead Island. It’s been a very long time since the two saw each other face-to-face, so Lucci has a lot to prove. He was unable to beat Luffy despite having Haki, and this will be his final chance to leave a mark.

How Powerful Is Lucci?
Many fans expected Lucci to be easily defeated by Luffy, but they were left stunned when the assassin from CP0 used his devil fruit awakening. It has been stated multiple times thatzoan type devil fruit awakeningsare extremely risky, which is why most characters either don’t awaken their devil fruits or, if they do, they prefer not to use them in battle. Zoan type awakenings carry a certain threat, and if an individual is not careful while using them, it can result in the person losing their mind. The perfect example is the jailers of Impel Down, who managed to awaken their devil fruits, but they overused their powers and eventually lost their comprehensive ability. These jailers have enhanced recovery and strength, but it comes at a price.

So, it is plausible to assume that Lucci’s power also comes with the same drawbacks, and if he continues to use it for a prolonged period, it could lead him down a path of ruin. So, Lucci will be looking to end the fight as quickly as possible. Lucci’s awakening definitely makes him more powerful, as seen in the fight against Luffy. His agility improved, as did his strength. Lucci’s awakened form has some similaritieswith Luffy’s Gear Fifth. Both of them are covered by smoke around certain areas. The big difference is the color of the smoke. Luffy has white smoke, while Lucci’s is black.
What Will Happen Next?
Judging by the clash so far, it is fair to say that Luffy still holds the upper hand in the fight, and he hasn’t even used Advanced Conqueror’s Haki yet. It is possible that Oda is dragging out the fight on purpose because if Luffy defeated Lucci in just a few panels, that would be very underwhelming.
Also, it seems that Lucci has realized that CP0 has a significant disadvantage in the fight, which is why he went after Sentomaru. His goal was to get rid of the Marine and use the Seraphim against Vegapunk and the pirates. With Sentomaru out of the way, CP0 can order the Seraphim to attack Luffy and co. This will be a major turning point in the fight, and considering the power of the Seraphim, it looks highly unlikely that Luffy will be able to hold his own against all four of them. To help out Luffy, Vegapunk or one of the satellites will have to move to his location to overrule the Authority Chip of CP0. If the pirates don’t deal with CP0 quickly, they could be in a lot moretrouble, as the Marineshave already sent them back up. According to Akainu, Kizaru is on his way to Egghead Island, and if he joins the fray as well, the Straw Hats will truly be in a perilous situation.
