5Monkey D. Luffy
Monkey D. Luffy became a Yonko after his victory against Kaido in Wano. He needed the power of Gear 5th to bring the villain to his knees. Currently, Luffy is among the strongest characters inOne Piece, but this hasn’t always been the case. Luffy has been defeated multiple times in the series. He incurred his first loss against Smoker in Logue Town and had to be rescued by Dragon.His next two defeatscame at the hands of Crocodile.
Luffy was also humbled by Rob Lucci, Aokiji, Kizaru, Magellan, and Kaido. All of his defeats helped Luffy grow stronger and unlock his true potential. His reign as a Yonko has only begun, but he will have to stay at the top of his game to avoid being bested by his opponents.
4Whitebeard
While he was still alive, there was no pirate in the world who could match the strength of Whitebeard. Only Gol D. Roger was said to have managed to fight the monster on an equal footing. Whitebeard ate the Gura Gura no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allowed him to create earthquakes. For this reason, he was said to have the power to destroy the entire world. However,Whitebeard suffered two notabledefeats in his lifetime.

Whitebeard was not a Yonko back then, but the setback must have weighed heavy on his heart. Whitebeard also fought Blackbeard in Marineford, and the latter was nearly beaten to a pulp. However, Blackbeard’s crew was present to back him up, and they shot Whitebeard several times. The Emperor was eventually killed, which counts as a loss.
3Kaido
Kaido was thecaptain of the Beasts Pirates, and he was known for his immense physical strength. From a young age, Kaido was exposed to war. His might earned him recognition throughout the world, and he was recruited by the Rocks Pirates. Even after the God Valley incident, Kaido’s fame continued to rise, and he became an Emperor.
Kaido came to be known as the Strongest Creature in the World. He possessed the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu, a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allowed him to transform into a massive Azure Dragon. Kaido could also use the advanced versions of all three types of Haki, making him nearly invincible. Despite his enormous power, he was still defeated by seven other individuals. While the names of his opponents remain unknown, it is very likely that his losses came against Roger, Whitebeard, Rocks, and Shanks. Kaido’s biggest and final loss came against Luffy in the Wano Country arc, which ended his reign as a Yonko.
2Big Mom
Big Mom was the ruler of Totto Land, a vast group of islands in the New World. She had all three types of Haki, and on top of that, she had the Soru Soru no Mi. Big Mom was a merciless individual who did not forgive even the slightest transgression. Many times, she attacked children if they did not follow her orders. Big Mom was put on the same pedestal as Kaido, as she managed to fight his former comrade for several days.

She was a member of the Rocks Pirates, and she was present during the battle in God Valley, which was her first major defeat. Big Mom’s next loss didn’t come until decades later, in the Wano Country arc against Law and Kid. The two Supernovas had to digdeep to bring down the Yonkoand claim their biggest-ever victory to date. Her current status remains unknown, but she is very likely dead.
1Buggy
Buggy used to be a member of the Roger Pirates, and he traveled to almost all the parts of the Grand Line. Unfortunately, he could not travel to Laugh Tale because of sickness. After the death of Roger, Buggy started his own pirate crew and became quite famous in East Blue, which is the weakest of all four seas.
In Orange Town, Buggy clashed with Luffy and was completely humiliated. Buggy tried to exact revenge in Logue Town, but he failed yet again. After the truth about his past came to light, the World Governmentmade him a Shichibukai.Buggy’s reputation soared even further, and he ended up becoming one of the Yonko. Out of all the current Yonko, Buggy is definitely the weakest, and he is only considered a threat because of his reputation. Considering he is also in the hunt to claim the One Piece, it won’t be long before he suffers yet another defeat.
