WhileOverwatch 2includes many heroes that can annoy the enemy team, one player recently revealed just how frustrating Mei can be for enemies trying to respawn. While Mei is one of the original heroes fromOverwatch 1included inOverwatch 2, her kit has been tweaked leading up to the launch of the new game.

In the transition to the sequel,Blizzard removed Mei’s ability to freeze-stun players using her primary fire, meaning that only her Ulitmate can do that now. However, she received a couple of buffs to offset this, such as an increase in damage for her primary fire to 100 DPS. While the hero has changed since the days ofOverwatch 1, she still has a kit that can prove very annoying to play against.

In a clip uploaded to Reddit, a user known as tristanbeatty revealed the effectiveness ofMei’s abilities inOverwatch 2. The video started with the Reddit user playing as Mei near the enemy team’s spawn room on the Route 66 map. The first ability showcased in the highlight was the Endothermic Blaster, which allowed the player to slow an opposing Kiriko. However, this was only the beginning of the enemy team’s frustration.

After using their primary fire to corral another opponent into their spawn room, tristanbeatty deployedMei’s Ice Wall, trapping the enemy team inside their spawn. While this barrier was quickly destroyed, the Reddit user activated their Cryo-Freeze ability. Despite being meant to make Mei invulnerable and provide healing to her, tristanbeatty decided to use it to create another barrier in front of the opposing team’s spawn. Once this ability had ended, they finished off their torment of the enemy team by using their Blizzard, freezing multiple opponents in place. The clip finished with tristanbeatty and the rest of his allies eliminating the frozen players.

When posting the clip to Reddit, the gamer admitted that “the enemy team had to be so annoyed.” This video from tristanbeatty has gained a lot of traction online. In fact, the post has accumulated more than 4.3K upvotes in only a day, with many discussing how much some players dislike the character. “I think people really hate mei a lot lol,” one user said. In addition, one gamer noticed that tristanbeatty had managed to get a 20-player kill streak, causing them to wonder how long the player had been annoying the enemy team.

WhileOverwatch 2is only a couple of weeks old, the developers at Blizzard will no doubt be looking at the effectiveness of the 35 characters in the game’s roster. It seems time will tell if Mei is among the heroes that will get more balancing changes in upcoming patches.

Overwatch 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
