Despite being announced all the way back in November 2019,Overwatch 2has been pretty quiet. That is, up until very recently. In the last few months, Blizzard announced thatOverwatch 2is finally nearing a playable state, and that an Alpha for the game’s PvP mode would be dropping in March. While those who have played the game already can’t speak about it due to a strict NDA, things seem to have gone well, and a closed PvP Beta will now be launched on April 26 for those playing on PC.

Along with a stripped back 5v5 game mode, a few new maps, and some Hero reworks, theOverwatch 2Beta will also include the game’s first new hero, Sojourn. Though Sojourn has appeared over the last few years inWinston and Ana’s animated shorts, the Canadian hero is finally coming to the world ofOverwatchin a playable form, and she looks to be one of the fastest Heroes in the game.

Sojourn’s Abilities Explained

While Sojourn may seem like just another Damage Hero, likeSoldier 76 or Tracer, her abilities and their synergy with one another set her apart from the rest of the roster in a big way. With the character having a primary attack that seems to hit pretty hard, Sojourn may just be one of the toughest Damage Heroes to take down if she is not quickly focused on by the opposing team;

Sojourn’s primary mode of attack is her gigantic railgun. The primary fire mode on the weapon shoots out energy projectiles at a fast rate, with it functioning much like Soldier 76’s rifle. With each shot that lands successfully, Sojourn’s railgun begins to store up some energy.

This stored energy can then be used for Sojourn’s secondary fire mode, which launches a high-impact bolt from the railgun. This high-impact shot can be seen inSojourn’s gameplay reveal trailer, and it deals some significant damage to her opponents, making the effort to store energy worthwhile. Based on what has been shown, the key to succeeding as Sojourn will be choosing when to save and use the stored energy.

One of Sojourn’s active abilities allows her to power slide across the floor using jets built in to her cybernetic legs. In the trailer, fans can see this power slide being used to avoidGenji’s Ultimate, with Sojourn sliding past an entire group of enemies. This slide can also be canceled out into a high jump, which launches the player into the air, making the perfect opening for a counterattack.

Sojourn’s other active ability is a Disruptor Shot, which is an AoE energy blast that both slows down and damages opponents trapped inside its radius. One of the major appeals ofSojourn’s abilitiesis that it seems like players will be able to use all of her abilities in tandem with one another, such as using the Power Slide move to get behind a group of enemies, launching into the air with the high jump, and firing a Disruptor Shot to damage the entire group at once.

Sojourn’s Ultimate is called “Overclock,” and will give the player unlimited high-impact shots for a short duration. These high-impact shots will be even more powerful than the standard alt-fire version, causing even more damage. These overclocked shots are also capable of piercing through multiple enemies at once, as seen at the end of the hero’s gameplay trailer. It may be a little tricky to use in practice, butSojourn’s Ultimatedoes have a lot of potential to be one of the most devastating in the game.
