AnOverwatch 2player found a clever way to contest the payload on Shambali Monastery without being noticed by the enemy team. Shambali Monastery is the latest map introduced inOverwatch 2and is still filled with hidden tricks for players to discover.
Shambali Monastery was introduced with thelaunch ofOverwatch 2Season 2, alongside tank hero Ramattra. This new Escort map is a monastery located deep in the Himalayas that served as a refuge for omnics after the Omnic Crisis described inOverwatch’s lore. As for all Escort maps in the game, players fighting on Shambali Monastery have to move a payload forward, with one team attacking and another defending this strategic and moving contest point.

AnOverwatch 2player going by the name of Joey-Magee-155 on Reddit published a clip from one of their games on Shambali Monastery, sharing their discovery of a useful spot to stall the payload. Playing asOverwatch 2support hero Kiriko, Joey-Magee-155 found a ledge on a building near the payload preventing the enemy team from moving it forward, as it remains stuck as long as a member of the defending team stands nearby. By hiding on this ledge, Kiriko stalled the payload, making their enemies confused as to why it wouldn’t budge.
In the comments to this Reddit post, many players noted that this kind of stall on Shambali Monastery can only work inlowerOverwatch 2competitive ranks. The only reason Kiriko stayed alive to contest the payload is that none of their enemies looked up, otherwise they would have spotted the support hero standing above the payload. According to the comments, players in lower ranks tend to not use high ground to place themselves above the payload and benefit from this raised position, just like Kiriko did in the clip. Instead of looking up and discovering the ambushed Kiriko, the enemy Orisa and Lucio who tried to move the payload shot at it, hoping the extra firepower would get it back on track.
Overwatch 2features several sneaky contest points, especially on newly released maps, as players are not yet used to all the locations their enemies could be hiding. While some of these positions are clever spots found byOverwatch 2players during their matches, some result from bugs and design flaws such as the ability for Sombra and Tracer to hide inside payloads. Blizzard regularly releases updates to fix these bugs and prevent players from exploiting design flaws to win their competitive games inOverwatch 2.
