One crafty fan ofOverwatch 2was able to put Orisa’s new Ultimate ability to effective use during a match in Ilios.Overwatch 2has introduced a plethora of new heroes and abilities that fans have quickly learned to use over the past couple of weeks since the game’s launch, with some heroes such as Orisa receiving almost total overhauls to their kits.
New players toOverwatch 2might be surprised to discover that Orisa had completely different abilities in the first game. Along with an impressive visual glow up, the robotic tank hero saw her deployable barricades removed inOverwatch 2, along with her Halt ability. These were instead replaced with her new Javelin-based techniques, namely her Javelin Throw and Javelin Spin abilities which allow her to keep enemies at bay. Even her old Ultimate ability, Supercharger, was swapped out with her new Ultimate called Terra Surge, which sacrifices her ability to power up allies' damage but instead allows Orisa to pull in enemies and shatter the ground beneath them.

One fan named hansalvato on Reddit showed off a clip of them using Orisa’s Terra Surge to pull off a spectacular triple environmental kill. This was done thanks to the ability causing enemies to be pulled towards Orisa as she uses it, meaning that the player was able to take three nearby enemies with them as they fell into the well at the center of the map’s control point. Although the play meant sacrificing themselves, the cheeky triple kill that came with it was likely enough to allow their teammates to capture the point.
ThoughOrisa’s upgrades inOverwatch 2transformed her into a javelin-wielding warrior, she wasn’t the only character to get such a treatment with the sequel. Other characters such as Bastion, Cassidy, and Sombra have also seen some drastic changes to their abilities, with Doomfist even being changed from a damage hero to a tank.
While a lot of fans have been pleased to see some of their favorite heroes receive fresh new abilities, some in theOverwatch 2community are unhappy with a lot of the balancing changesthat have been made with the new title. Zarya and Sombra are two existing heroes that seem to have been complained about most, with changes to Zarya’s barrier making her invulnerable much of the time while also enabling her to dish out more damage than most damage heroes.
On top of that, one of the new heroes, Sojourn, has also had a fair share of criticism due to the otherworldly amount of damage she can do thanks to her railgun. While it’s safe to say that not every hero is fairly balanced at the moment, players should take comfort in knowing thatBlizzard recently addressed these issues in an official blog post, claiming that the team hopes to roll out some balancing changes in a future update.
Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
