UPDATE 10/17: Overwatch game director Jeff Kaplan has confirmed thatBlizzard is fixing the Ashe Halloween skin. Original story follows.
While it came a little bit later in the month than usual, Blizzard has finally kicked off theOverwatchHalloween 2019 event, complete with a slew of new cosmetics for fans of the hero-shooter to collect. The newOverwatchHalloween cosmetics of course include new skins, with many heroes on the roster getting new looks for Halloween. Damage character Ashe is one character to get a new skin for theOverwatchHalloween event, but her legendary-tier Warlock Ashe skin may actually make her a more difficult her to play in the game.

As pointed out by Reddit user DanyDidNothingWrong, the newOverwatchHalloween skin forAshemakes her scope more difficult to use effectively, as its much brighter than her default scope. The bright scope on the Warlock Ashe skin gives players less visibility when aiming down the sights, and since Ashe is primarily a sniper, this can make using her in the game much more frustrating than it would be otherwise.

SomeOverwatchplayers dump a bunch of money into loot boxes during events so that they can unlock as many of the new skins as possible, so it stands to reason that some of these players may be upset to find that Ashe’s new Halloween skin actually makes her more difficult to play. Luckily, there doesn’t seem to be any major issues with the otherOverwatchHalloween 2019 skins, so fans can collect and equip those with no worries.
New skins aren’t the only thing thatOverwatchplayers have to look forward to during the ongoing Halloween Terror 2019 event. There’s also theJunkenstein’s Revenge mode, which is a wave-based co-op mode that offers a much different type of experience than the standardOverwatchPvP modes. Like the new Halloween skins, Junkenstein’s Revenge will only be available in the game until Halloween Terror wraps up on November 4, so those interested should be sure to try it while they can.
Overwatchevents are always an exciting time for fans, though it’s hard to deny that this year’s event is being overshadowed by the ongoingBlizzard Hong Kong controversy. Blizzard’s banning of a proHearthstoneplayer for speaking out in favor of the liberation of Hong Kong from China has sparked widespread outrage to the point that Blizzard canceled theOverwatchSwitch launch party that was planned in New York. BlizzCon 2019 is right around the corner, with pro-Hong Kong protests planned, so it will be interesting to see how Blizzard may try to appease angry fans.
Overwatchis out now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
