Barboach is a dual Water and Ground Pokemon inPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearl, who was first introduced in the Gen 3 region of Hoenn. It has a shiny variant, and evolves into Whiscash when it reaches level 30.

Barboach is one of the Pokedex entries required in order to receive theNational Dex inPokemon Brilliant DiamondandShining Pearlfrom Professor Oak. The Pokemon don’t have to be captured, just sighted in order to get the dex. This means the Elite Four and Cynthia must be defeated as well, as they battle with Pokemon that cannot be seen anywhere else in the games.
Ensure theGood Rod inBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlis equipped, as the Old Rod will never spawn a Barboach. It only lets players fish for a Magikarp, which is good if trying to get Gyarados, but not much else.
Where to Find Whiscash in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
Whiscash is the next and only evolution of Barboach, and can be obtained by reaching level 30 with Barboach, or catching in the wild.Whiscash can be located in these areas by using the Super Rod:

These are the same locations as Barboach, but players must ensure they have theSuper Rod inBrilliant DiamondandShining Pearlequipped instead if they wish to catch Whiscash. Acquiring this improved rod requires players to beat the Elite Four and get the National Dex, however, so it is recommended to have Barboach in the party instead to get a Whiscash. This takes advantage of the experience share mechanic.
