Pokemon RedandBlueserved as an introduction for many to the world ofPokemon, and the Pokemon seen in these games are still considered some of fans' most favorite. Apart from the various Pokemon,Pokemon RedandBluealso introduced the Kanto region where many different towns reside. One of the more infamous areas here is the spooky Lavender Town.
Lavender Town is encountered about halfway into the game on the far right of the Kanto region. It is easily one of the most famous towns in all ofPokemonthanks to its incredibly eerie music and Pokemon Tower where players first learn Pokemon can die. Although this seems somewhat obvious, prior to reaching Lavender Town, the music and vibrant nature ofPokemon RedandBluewas completely different. It’s not until reaching Lavender Town that players felt a shift.

One fan on Youtube by the name of Gio decided to create an animated short for Halloween featuring Lavender Town. The animated short takes fans through a forest packed with a variety of different Pokemon such as Seismitoad, Baixen, and Zubat. Although not all traditionally considered scary Pokemon, their aesthetic nicely fits the animated short. Afterward, fans are taken through a cemetery, another forest area, and then finally the infamous Lavender Town. Each area has tons of Pokemon, but another thing that is impressive is the number of different easter eggs that can be spotted on multiple viewings.
Most of the Pokemon in Lavender Town are dressed up for Halloween and are seen wearing various different outfits and uniforms. Charmander for example is wearing Samus’s helmet from theMetroid Primevideo game series. Shortly after, Lucario can be observedrunning with his hands behind his back while wearing aNarutoheadband. It’s surprisingly detailed and very well done.
The music in the animated short is more upbeat than the original Lavender Town music. It has a more playful Halloween-like feeling to it which makes the overall animated short seem a lot less scary than the original Lavender Town. It’s a good thing as aninfamousPokemonurban legendwas created because of the original theme music.
The Lavender Town animated short is great and further reinforces the idea that a large-scalePokemongame would look amazing. For fans that wish to revisit Lavender Town in time for Halloween, they can traverse the latest iteration onPokemon: Let’s Go Pikachu!orPokemon: Let’s Go Eevee!that was released a few years ago.
