Pokemon GOplayers hoping to catch Gimmighoul should know that they will need to purchase the upcoming Nintendo Switch gamesPokemon Scarlet and Violetto do so.Pokemon GO’s connectivity with main seriesPokemongames has led to some interesting things in the past, like when players could connect Niantic’s augmented reality mobile game to thePokemon Let’s Gotitles to help catch Meltan.
WhenPokemon GOadded Meltan, players were given multiple ways to catch the elusive Steel-type Pokemon. One way was to complete the Let’s Go Meltan Special Research, while another method involved connectingPokemon GOand theLet’s Gogames to get a special Mystery Box. Now it seems that something similar is going to be done with the newly-revealed Gimmighoul Pokemon, though so far the only way to catch it will be by connectingPokemon GOwithPokemon Scarlet and Violet. No Meltan-style Special Research task has been confirmed for Gimmighoul at the time of this writing.
How to Catch Gimmighoul in Pokemon GO
According to Niantic, tocatch Gimmighoul inPokemon GO, players will need to connect the game toPokemon Scarlet and Violet, a feature that won’t be available until an undetermined point in 2023. WheneverPokemon GOconnectivity withScarlet and Violetis activated, players will be able to link the games and catch the Roaming Form of Gimmighoul. And unless Niantic announces plans to make Gimmighoul available in some other way that has yet to be announced, this will be the only way forPokemon GOplayers to catch Gimmighoul.

Gimmighoul will also be featured inPokemon Scarlet and Violetwhen the games launch on November 18. However, the version of Gimmighoul featured inPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill be different from the Roaming Version that players can catch inPokemon GO. Gimmighoul inPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill be in its Chest Form.Scarlet and Violetplayers will also be able to see the Roaming Form of Gimmighoul while exploring the open world Paldea region, but they won’t be able to add it to their collection.
Pokemon GOcompletionists that pride themselves onfully completing the Pokedexmay be disappointed that they have to purchasePokemon Scarlet and Violetto get Gimmighoul, but anyone that hardcore aboutPOGOwas likely going to buy the new main series games anyway. It’s also possible that Niantic will eventually give players some other way of catching Gimmighoul inPokemon GO, so fans should keep that in mind as well.
