Summary

Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers are in for some treats when The Indigo Disk DLC finally launches, and today’s final trailer for the conclusion of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero pack highlighted a few of them. Players will be pitted against powerful trainers from the Blueberry Academy, including the BB League and a “different” Kieran compared to the boy they met in The Teal Mask, and they will also be able to catch all past starter Pokemon from the series.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetwill also allow players to catch Legendary Pokemon from past games, and so far a good chunk of them have been revealed - if not all of them.

In the past few days, a renownedPokemonleaker by the name of Riddler Khu shared a hint that some beloved old Legendary Pokemon were coming back with The Indigo Disk and that they would be eligible to be found as shiny - some for the first time ever, too. While at first it seemed like players would be able to find critters likePokemon Legends: Arceus' Enamorusin The Indigo Disk, datamining showed there were 25 Legendary Pokemon planned for the DLC, and all of them were confirmed in today’s trailer.

All the Legendary Pokemon in The Indigo Disk DLC Explained

It’s yet unclear how players will be able to start battles and then attempt to catchLegendary Pokemon in The Indigo Disk, but datamining suggests that each of these critters will have an item associated with them that can start an encounter, and each encounter can feature a shiny. This remains speculation for now, but these are the Legendary Pokemon coming back with the latest Gen 9 DLC:

While Urshifu is not in the trailer, Kubfu’s addition to The Indigo Disk meansPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will be able to evolve it into Urshifu, although it remains to be seen how the critter’s alternate forms will be attainable in this case. Similarly, Glastrier and Spectrier are present, but there is no sign of Calyrex. This doesn’t mean Calyrex will automatically show up, however, and instead it may remain aPokemon Homeexclusivefor those who caught it inPokemon Sword and Shield’s Crown Tundra DLC.

Moreover, much likePokemon Sword and Shieldfeatures the regular Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres alongside their Galarian versions,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Paradox Legendary Beastsand Swords of Justice are getting their regular versions with Raikou, Entei, and Suicune and Cobalion, Terrakion, and Virizion, respectively. Although Gen 7’s Ultra Beasts are apparently not going to be part ofPokemon Scarlet and Violet, The Indigo Disk is bringing Solgaleo, Lunala, and Necrozma back for players to catch. More importantly, perhaps, is the fact thatPokemon Black and White’s Legendary Pokemon are returning. Based on the trailer and datamining as well, players will be able to catch Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem.

Why Gen 5 Legendaries Coming Back is Important

This is relevant because it traces back to the rumors ofPokemonGen 5 remakes or aPokemon Legends Unovagame, both seemingly big possibilities considering the many Gen 5 references in bothPokemon Legends: ArceusandPokemon Scarlet and Violet. Featuring Archaludon as an Unovan bridge in The Indigo Disk and then bringing back Gen 5 Legendaries makes either of these two a likely reality, although a third option would be to make asequel toPokemon Black 2 and White 2, in a way killing two birds with one stone.

The fact that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s Indigo Disk will make Legendaries from past games available is also nothing to scoff at gameplay-wise. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lack endgame grinds, and new ways to get Legendaries and their shiny forms could be it.
