One craftyPokemon Scarlet and Violetfan found a method for defeating Typhlosion the Unrivaled in a single turn. The player took online to share their super effective strategy just as thePokemon Scarlet and VioletTyphlosion Tera Raid eventwent live.

Theseven-star Tera Raid battles inPokemon Scarlet and Violetare some of the toughest challenges in Game Freak’s latest RPGs, much like “the Unrivaled” epithet attached to the names of their bosses suggests. Most of these events feature third evolutions of past-generation starters with perfect stats and an array of hard-hitting moves capable of decimating any party, including their theoretically weak matchups. Even seasonedPokemontrainers can hence find battling them to be an arduous affair.

Reddit user Nommable123 does not appear to be part of that demographic, having just found a way to down Typhlosion the Unrivaled in a single turn. Making matters even more impressive is that the creature roster capable of achieving this is fairly easy to put together, consisting of Umbreon, Stonjourner, Honchkrow, and Krookodile. While not just any member of these species will do, the setup mostly comes down to selecting the right moves while training up the party and buying the odd item such as Scope Lens, which helps Honchkrow bestow a guaranteed critical hit to Krookodile.

The battle strategy itself requires opening with Umbreon’s Screech to lower Typhlosion the Unrivaled’s defense by two stages and following up with an Attack Cheer from Stonjourner. Honchkrow should then activate Krookodile’s Anger Points by using Night Slash, thus enabling it to deliver a one-hit KO with Power Trip and end thisPokemon Scarlet and VioletTera Raid on turn one.

While the party setup isn’t overly complicated, it’s still the vast majority of this battle. So, after obtaining aKrookodile inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, players will want to make sure that their designated heavy-hitter is holding a Choice Band and has a sufficient Attack stat, among other things. Speed is another important consideration, seeing how the Krookodile starring in this incredibly effective team had 252 in this stat. This meant it was fast enough to outpace Typhlosion the Unrivaled, as allowing even a single turn to the boss would run the risk of having the main damage dealer wiped out.

The strategy itself has a similar opening to a recently devised approach forsoloing thePokemon Scarlet and VioletSamurott raid, further underlining the power of Screech debuffs in the games. Coincidentally, Nommable123 previously managed to one-up that method by beating Samurott the Unrivaled in a single turn, as well. They managed that feat with a party that’s similar to their Typhlosion team, featuring Tauros in place of Krookodile and slightly squishier supports.
