APokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer recently posted a video of their Tinkatuff falling off a cliff at the beginning of a battle. With a variety of open-world bugs happening inPokemon Scarlet and Violetthis bug is surprising, but not unexpected.
The newestPokemongames have introduced some new features to the long-running series, but that also comes with its own set of problems. On release,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetsuffered from performance issues, and players encountered a variety of bugs. While there have been some patches that resolved issues and fixed bugs, there are still plenty that remain to be solved. Nintendo has promised that the performance issues will be fixed, but no major patches have been released yet. Despite this,Pokemonfans have put up incredibly high sales numbers and continue to enjoy the game, although sometimes that results in unintentionally funny clips.

The video that was posted on thePokemonsubreddit by player Saxem is a perfect example of a bug that turned out to be quite surprising and amusing. The video starts with Saxem approaching an NPC standing near a cliff and being challenged to a battle. The NPC throws their poke ball, releasing a Murkrow in front of them. Then Saxem’s character throws their own poke ball and releases a Tinkatuff. Unfortunately for them, the poke ball throw positioned their Tinkatuff directly over the edge of the cliff, and upon appearing, the Tinkatuff instantly falls into the canyon and out of sight. Interestingly enough, this isn’t the firstPokemon Scarlet and Violetcliff-related battle bug.
This bug shared by Saxem is quite funny and definitely surprising, but it also highlights some of the problems thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers have been experiencing. Theopen-world gameplay inPokemon Scarlet and Violetis a significant step for thePokemonseries, but with the only previous open-world game in thePokemonfranchise beingPokemon Legends: Arceus, it’s clear that there are some quirks and bugs that are still being worked out. Despite that, this does seem to be a great direction to take the series in, and one that fans seem to be enjoying despite the bugs.
Pokemongames have garnered criticism for being too easy, andScarlet and Violetare no exception in this regard. Fans have already claimed that starter PokemonFuecoco makesPokemon Scarlet and Violettoo easy. It seems that more players, however, have fully embraced the newest additions to the well-lovedPokemonseries. And, if Nintendo can fix the performance issues, the popularity of the games should only increase as time goes on.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetare available now, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
