Summary
The future of thePokemonfranchise may be up in the air after the release of The Indigo Disk DLC forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, but it’s likely that a sequel toPokemon Legends: Arceuswill be coming in the future. Part of the success ofPokemon Legends: Arceuscan be attributed to the popularity of its titular Mythical mascot, and a sequel will have to find a way to incorporate Legendaries and Mythicals in an equally unique way. If this title takes place in the Galar region, there is already an important storyline it could follow with a clear Legendary mascot at its center.
Although the basePokemon Sword and Shieldgames only introduced three Legendaries in the form of Zacian, Zamazenta, and Eternatus, many more were made available through its DLC. The Isle of Armor DLC added Kubfu and Urshifu as new Legendaries, as well as Zarude as a new Mythical. The second expansion, The Crown Tundra, featured numerous new Legendaries includingGalarian forms of the Legendary Birds, two new Regis, as well as Calyrex and its steeds Spectrier and Glastrier, who would likely be the mascots of aPokemon LegendsGalar game.

Calyrex Would be the Most Likely Legendary Mascot of a Pokemon Legends Galar
Calyrex was featured as the mascot ofThe Crown Tundra DLC forPokemon Sword and Shieldand is known within the folklore of the region as the King of Bountiful Harvests. In reality, Calyrex was said to have once been the king of Galar in ancient times and can communicate with humans using its immense Psychic power. Additionally, Calyrex is said to have saved a forest of creatures from a meteorite using the foresight granted by its telepathic abilities, which is an event that could be featured in aPokemon LegendsGalar game.
Along with its base form, Calyrex also has two additional forms when mounted atop one of its two steeds: Spectrier and Glastrier. The Crown Tundra implies that these two steeds were once one creature, which could be the basis for another new form in aPokemon LegendsGalar game where instead ofShadow Rider Calyrex or Ice Rider Calyrex, players will get to see the King of Bountiful Harvests atop its true steed. Part of this game’s plot could be finding and recovering this Legendary mount so that Calyrex can reach its full potential.
While Calyrex may be the featured mascot of aPokemon LegendsGalar, the game would also likely featureEternatusas a major threat to the region. Eternatus was said to have first appeared from a meteorite 20,000 years ago in an event known as the Darkest Day, and this event bears a striking resemblance to the tale of Calyrex saving a forest from a meteorite impact. Perhaps this game could be set in Galar’s distant past and feature the player having to work with Calyrex to recruit the hero duo of Zacian and Zamazenta and lead them into battle against Eternatus to save the kingdom of Galar.
The Legendary mascot of aPokemon LegendsGalar game would likely be Calyrex given its status as an ancient king of Galar and the potential it creates for this game to feature a new combined form of Spectrier and Glastrier. Additionally, Eternatus could be featured in this game if it follows the Darkest Day storyline where Calyrex, Zacian, and Zamazenta must work together to defeat this threat.
This storyline would be a great way to incorporateZacian and Zamazentainto the game, but it also leaves room for other Legendaries and Mythicals to make an appearance as well. One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Galar’s Legendaries is the existence of Galarian forms for Kanto’s Legendary Birds, which this game could help explain. Furthermore, Galar’s only Mythical, Zarude, could also be included as a guardian of the forest that helps Calyrex prevent the meteorite containing Eternatus from destroying its home.
