The reception toPS Plus Extraand Premium has been quite telling for the service. Many are enjoying its offerings, and while it hasn’t been perfect, it’s looking good for the future. Some PS Plus Extra and Premium games are already scheduled to leave, but that’s fine giving more are coming in. For example, new titles for the higher tier should be announced midway through July and include, at least, theday one release ofStray.
The Essential Tier of PS Plus marches onward too, essentially being the exact same as PS Plus before. In June 2022, fans got access toGod of War, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, andNickelodeon All-Star Brawl. Yesterday was the last full day fans could snag them, as they are being replaced with thePS Plus free games for July 2022.

The newPS PlusEssential Tier games for July 2022 includeCrash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan, andArcadegeddon. At the very least, it seems the free games for July are generally better than the free games for June. None of the June games reviewed quite well, outside ofGod of War.Meanwhile,Crash Bandicoot 4has an 85 Top Critic Average, andMan of Medanhas a 71 Top Critic Average on OpenCritic.

Arcadegeddon, meanwhile, doesn’t have much in the way of reviews, but given that neither of the other two are as low asNickelodeon All-Star BrawlorShinobi Striker,it should be a good month.Crash Bandicoot 4is a beloved platformerand long-awaited entry in the franchise,Man of Medanis a signature horror game from Supermassive Games, andArcadegeddonis a cooperative PvE and PvP experience set to the general themes of a classic arcade.
Of course, what defines a “good” month or a “bad” month on the PS Plus service is entirely a personal experience. Someone’s personal tastes could correspond better with the June games than the July games, while neither month may hit for some users. Hopefully, if that is the case, thePS Plus games for August 2022are more satisfying.
While downloading these games, it’s worth keeping in mind that anyone with access toPS Plus Extra and Premium could already check outMan of Medan. This was the case forGod of Warlast month as well, so hopefully, this “repeat” trend doesn’t last for too long as PS Plus settles into its new tiered service.
