A newly discovered patent from Sony might suggest a new feature coming to thePS5that could help players when they get stuck on difficult encounters in games on the upcoming system. This new discovery comes right before the upcomingreveal for Sony’s next-gen console, set to premiere on Thursday, June 11th.
The feature itself implies that Sony is looking to make streaming and sharing recorded footage ofPS5gameplay even easier than the current format already present on the PS4. From what the patent shows, it appears that the new feature will be added directly into the UI andfamiliar menu of the Next-Gen console.

Specifically, the new PS5 feature plans on tracking a player’s game data in order to determine where in the game they might be and offer hints for the areas that they are currently on. These hints can come both as text or by playing footage of other players who are in similar areas, or who have already beaten whatever encounter the player might currently be arriving to or stuck on. This means that Sony is likely looking into improvingsharing and recording features on PS5, which is already one of the strongest features from PS4 when compared to other consoles.
The new feature seems to be looking to replace the regular cycle for most players who get stuck on particularly difficult boss fights and enemy encounters, where players take a beating and then jump to Reddit, YouTube, or their preferred guide to figure out how to continue. This could be a huge advantage for games likeDestiny 2on PS5, where many players have to look up guides and online strategies for completing the high level raids that populate the title’s endgame. However, beyond being able to lend a helping hand, players will also seemingly have a way to check their own progress and compare their success through the recorded “Game state” in the new UI.

While most players are mostly excited about whatgames are coming to PS5, seeing the types of features that the system will boast may give a better picture of what Sony means with the “future of gaming” slogan for the new system. So far, Sony’s claims all have a theme of streamlining how players will interact with games, from increasing base frame rates, to nearly eliminating load times all together. With everything we’ve already seen of the PS5, fans have plenty of reasons to be excited for Thursday’s reveal event and what Sony might unveil for the system next.
