Red Dead Redemption 2’s open world is so big and its interactions so complex that players are still discovering new things almost two years after launch. The latest interaction to be discovered isn’t going to change the game for anyRed Dead Redemption 2players, but, it’s still a very cool detail and something that players can definitely look for while exploringRed Dead Redemption 2on the off chance they might see the rare event, too.

InRed Dead Redemption 2there’s a variety of wildlife. This wildlife can interact with each other, but it mostly comes down to predators chasing prey. There are a handful of more interesting wildlife interactions, though, one example being two bucks banging their antlers together. Since deer are herbivores, this interaction had to be hand-scripted by the developers. It may even have required additional animation just for the interaction, but that’s apparently not even the full extent of it.

Reddit user PPLovee managed to record one potential conclusion of two bucks fighting inRed Dead Redemption 2,perhaps while PPLovee washunting a Legendary Buck. The recording shows that, as part of their fight, one of the bucks died. However, instead of the other buck simply running free, its antlers were caught in the dead buck’s. The short video shows the live buck wrestling to pull its antlers free. It eventually succeeds and then runs off.

One Reddit user who replied to PPLovee’s post said that this is actually a relatively new addition to theRed Dead Redemption 2. They believe that it was added in a relativelyrecent update, which is why it hasn’t been shared before and isn’t widely known about.

PPLovee notes that in the wild, this situation isn’t uncommon. However, if a buck gets its antlers stuck in a dead rival’s, it often leads to the stuck buck starving to death. That doesn’t seem to be a potential outcome inRed Dead Redemption 2, but maybe it just hasn’t been recorded yet.Red Dead Redemption 2can be a cruel game.

In the end, it’s just one of an incredible amount of events and interactions that players can discover while playingRed Dead Redemption 2. It’s truly one of the best realizedopen-world gamesavailable, and there are likely plenty more such interactions left for players to discover.

Red Dead Redemption 2is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
