TheResident Eviluniverse is filled with organizations for fans to familiarize themselves with. There are the obvious ones like Umbrella and S.T.A.R.S, but there are many more that have large impacts on the lore and stories of the games. One of these important organizations is TerraSave, most recently mentioned in the Netflix anime seriesResident Evil: Infinite Darkness.

TerraSave isn’t mentioned much throughout the four episodes ofInfinite Darkness. The most fans will learn through watching the show is thatthe dauntless heroine Claire Redfieldis working with TerraSave to investigate bioterrorism and help those affected by it. Otherwise, they’re simply a name on Claire’s ID card. The organization has a storied past though and has appeared more times than some fans might expect.

10TerraSave Aren’t The BSAA

TerraSave is most notably known for helping those adversely affected by bioterrorism. The group’s ultimate goal is to bring the perpetrators of bioterrorism to light and help the civilians left behind. These goals fall in line with the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA). Though the groups might have similar interests, it’s important to note that they are not together nor are they the same.

The BSAA was created byChris RedfieldandJill Valentineas a pseudo-military organization to combat bioterrorism on the front lines. Though the BSAA does humanitarian work as well, they are primarily a security alliance. They’re closer to a private military company than a philanthropy group. TerraSave is much more invested in aiding areas hit by bioterrorism and working to rebuild wartorn areas.

9TerraSave Was Created To Aid People

While organizations like the FBC and the BSAA handle the front-line combat against the countless hordes of monsters in theResident Eviluniverse, TerraSave works with the people. The organization was originally created to give people hurt by bioterrorism a voice to speak through. The group has helped countless people recover from bioterror attacks and wars. They aren’t a military branch by any means.

TerraSave works on building hospitals and homes for people. They also work to uncover scandals and coverups made by governments trying to hide their work with bioterror. This is Claire’s goal throughout much ofInfinite Darknessas she believes there is more to the Penamstan Civil War than what the American government says. Unfortunately, her position with TerraSave doesn’t seem to mean much to many of the people she tries to speak with in the show. This is perhaps because TerraSave is a fairly new organization in the time thatInfinite Darknessis set.

8Created After The Raccoon City Incident

Though Raccoon City hasn’t been seen in amainlineResident Evilgame(not including remakes) since the original release ofResident Evil 3: Nemesis, the city has had a longstanding impact on the story. There are countless references to the doomed midwestern town inResident Evil: Infinite Darknessand the events of the incident and its “cleanup” would go on to affect both the story and the characters for multiple games to come.

TerraSave was one of many things to come out of the Raccoon City Incident. Interestingly, it wasn’t the zombies or survivors that spurred the creation of TerraSave; it was Raccoon City’s destruction. The U.S. government ended up obliterating Raccoon City via a direct missile strike, turning the area into a total wasteland in minutes. The government obviously wanted to cover its relations with Umbrella, and the founders of TerraSave were deadset on exposing the conspiracy. As itwas their founding goal, this idealogy of exposing coverups has remained one of the pillars of TerraSave’s business.

7First Introduced In Resident Evil: Degeneration

Resident Evil: Infinite Darknessisn’t the first animated series set in the canonical universe ofResident Evil. The first was a movie-length animation calledResident Evil: Degeneration.Much likeInfinite Darkness, the film starredLeon S. Kennedyand Claire Redfield. It was set seven years after what happened in Raccoon City and showed bioterrorism with the t-virus and g-virus was still very much an issue.

The film also introduced TerraSave as an NGO committed to fighting bioterrorism through helping others and exposing corruption. Claire is a member of TerraSave in the film and is boosted by her background as a survivor of both Raccoon City and Rockfort Island. Another similarity toInfinite Darknessis the depiction of TerraSave as rather powerless in the grand scheme of fighting bioterrorism, as it seems inevitable and the victims will be endless.

6TerraSave Was Involved With The Kijuju Incident

2009’sResident Evil 5proved that no place on the planet was safe from bioterror. The game took players to remote areas of Africa and centered around Chris Redfield’s story of revenge against longtime nemesis Albert Wesker. The majority of the game takes place in an isolated part of Africa called the Kijuju Autonomous Region. The place is cut off from the rest of the world, and most foreigners aren’t well-liked.

Resident Evil Degeneration Claire and Leon Look Towards Screen

After an outbreak of a Plaga-style parasite hits the region, hundreds of natives are killed and the region falls apart. Chris, with the help of BSAA agent Sheva Alomar fights through towns, camps, mines, and more to find those responsible for the outbreak. Eventually, TerraSave arrives to begin setting up medical aid and housing for survivors in the region. Not much is known about how successful TerraSave’s mission was, but agents Gabriel Chavez and Pedro Fernandez were apparently forced to flee their posts because of infected attacks in the area.

5Barry Burton’s Daughter Is A Member

Fans who playedResident Evil Revelations 2will know a lot about TerraSave, as it is one of the main organizations of the game. Without going too much into the story, Claire Redfield (now a high-standing member) helps recruit a young woman intent on helping others non-violently into TerraSave. This woman is Moira Burton.

If the surname seems familiar, it’s because Moira is the daughter of iconic gun enthusiast andfan-favorite character Barry Burton. Unlike her father, Moira is terrified of guns and refuses to use them. She strives to be a total pacifist if possible, but the events ofResident Evil Revelations 2force her to make some very difficult decisions. Like Leon with the RPD, Moira’s first days as a TerraSave agent are definitely more than she bargained for.

4TerraSave Defeated Alex Wesker

Though not as infamous as her brother,Alex Wesker does some pretty horrible thingsin the games she’s featured in. She conducts ruthless experiments on innocent civilians in the pursuit of unlocking immortality–something her brother sought as well. Alex kills countless people and nearly kills Claire and Moira in her final hours.

Though TerraSave isn’t a military organization, they end up being responsible for defeating Wesker. Claire Redfield isn’t easily defeated and she proves that in her fight against Alex. Claire shows that once again, the Redfields are stronger than the Weskers when she defeats Alex with the aid of Barry Burton and his daughter Moira.

3TerraSave HQ Was Attacked In 2011

TerraSave might seem like a secure and impenetrable organization at first, but they’re as susceptible to attacks as any. The 2011 attack on their HQ in which armed soldiers kidnapped various key players in the organization proves that.

This event sets the stage for the entirety ofResident Evil Revelations 2and shows that no organization is safe, no matter how benevolent they might seem.  After the attacks, Claire and Moira must fight their way through the twisted trials of Alex Wesker’s fear experiments. Plenty of people have their problems with TerraSave, but the real culprit of the attack is not revealed until much later in the game.

2TerraSave Was Betrayed By Neil Fisher

Neil Fisher was one of the agents responsible for tracking global bioterrorism and leading aid campaigns. He was a direct witness to what happened in the Kijuju Autonomous Region in 2009 and he becameintensely afraid of what the Uroboros Virus could do. This fear led Neil down a dark path.

Knowing she had samples of her brother’s Uroboros Virus, Neil began secret talks with Alex Wesker. Now the leader of TerraSave, Neil had plenty of leverage and his influence was significant. He helped set up the attack on TerraSave HQ in 2011 and ended up being directly responsible for the death of himself and 10 other TerraSave members after they were kidnapped and submitted to Alex Wesker’s experiments.

1TerraSave Is Ravaged By Internal Conflict

AsResident Evil Villageproved, no group–no matter how big and powerful–is immune to internal corruption. Near the end ofVillageChris Redfield discovers that his former organization, the BSAA, is using bioorganic weapons as soldiers. This act goes directly against what the BSAA once stood for, and upsets Chris greatly.

Neil Fisher’s betrayal of TerraSave led to the death of at least 11 members. This wasn’t the first incident where a TerraSave member compromised the company either. In 2005, TerraSave was forced to separate its image from activist Curtis Miller after he made several violent threats against a company called WillPharma. TerraSave is seemingly plagued by internal conflict, often interfering with their peaceful goals of helping others.
