Back in April, reliableResident Evilfranchise leakers indicated that Capcom was pursuing a full-fledgedResident Evil 4remake. While nothing official has been announced, the leakers in question have a lot of credibility, having accurately leaked things like theResident Evil 3remake,Resident Evil 8details, and much more. Now one of theRE4remakeleakers has some bad news to share for fans who are hoping to see the game soon.
Responding to someone on Twitter, frequentResident Evilfranchise leaker AestheticGamer reiterated that theResident Evil 4remake is “happening,” but that anyone expecting to see the game this year will be disappointed. Previously, rumors have indicated that Capcom is looking for theResident Evil 4remake release date to be at some point in 2022, so it makes sense that the company is holding off on revealing it so early.

Not only that, but there is another main seriesResident Evilgame on the way beforeRE4remake, and so Capcom likely doesn’t want to steal its thunder.Resident Evil 8is launching in 2021, so fans of the franchise can expect the company to focus primarily on marketing that game for now. It would be surprising to see Capcom even acknowledge theResident Evil 4remake’s existence until afterRE8is released.
TherumoredResident Evil 8release dateis some time in January to March of next year, so fans shouldn’t expect to learn about theResident Evil 4remake in an official capacity until after that point. That being said, leakers have givenResident Evilfans somewhat of an idea of what to expect from the new game.
Apparently, theResident Evil 4remake will have some new story content for fans to experience, with leakers hinting that the infamous Chainsaw Man will get some additional story elements. Gameplay-wise, it’s been suggested that theResident Evil 4remake will be ditching tank controlsfor a more modern control scheme, not unlike what was featured in recent third-personREgames like theResident Evil 2and3remakes.
Of course, fans should take all of this information with a grain of salt untilCapcomitself decides to reveal more details. However, given the company’s tendency to remakeResident Evilgames constantly, one has to imagine that anRE4remake is a pretty safe bet.
