Summary
Clockwork Revolutionis the fifth major first-party Xbox title to potentially be setting its sights on a 2025 release. Xbox’s recent games showcase was jam-packed with huge reveals and exciting looks at new gameplay from the likes ofSouth of MidnightandFable. These two games, along with id Software’s newly revealedDoom: The Dark Ages, were officially given 2025 release windows at the end of their respective trailers, finally painting Xbox fans a picture of what its first-party lineup will look like next year. A few days later, The Verge’s Tom Warren revealed that he’d heard The Coalition’sGears of War: E-Dayprequel is also eyeballing 2025for its release.
Revealed at Xbox’s games showcase last year,Clockwork Revolutionis a steampunk-inspired RPG coming from inXile Entertainment, mainly known for itsWastelandseries and helmed by industry veteran Brian Fargo. Upon its impressive reveal, many made comparison toBioShock Infinite,asClockwork’s art style and setting has a similar look to that of the critically acclaimed 2013 FPS. The game’s reveal pleased RPG fans with its eye-catching environments and promising first-person gameplay.

WhileClockwork Revolutiondidn’t show face at this year’s Xbox showcase, a new rumor has launched it back into the conversation surroundingXbox’s upcoming slate of games. On the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit, KekanKok posted resume details of an unnamed voice actor which lists a number of upcoming games they’ve worked on. One of these games, denoted as CWRKRV, is listed with a 2025 release year.
Clockwork Revolution May Be Looking To Release In 2025
It’s certainly possible thatClockwork Revolutioncould be ready to go next year. While it’s being pointed to as inXile’s biggest RPG yet, it’s been four years since the studio’s latest game, 2020’sWasteland 3, and work onClockworkis estimated to have begun prior to that, around 2019. However, if it really were ready to roll out in 2025, it would’ve almost certainly appeared at this past Xbox showcase with a gameplay reveal and release year, just likeSouth of Midnightwhich was also first revealed last summer.
Xbox averages about two to three major first-party game releases a year, so the thought ofFable,South of Midnight,Gears of War: E-Day,Doom: The Dark Ages, andClockwork Revolutionall dropping in 2025 seems unprecedented. It’s easy to see some of these games being pushed to 2026, likeFable, which is reportedly shooting for a Q4 2025 release. Nevertheless, it’s clear that afterAvowedandIndiana Joneshit this year, there’s still plenty for Xbox fans to be excited about in 2025and beyond.
