Both AMD andNvidiaare continuing in their questS to be the absolute head honcho of the GPU world, especially as the new generation is fast approaching. On top of that, graphics card prices are getting closer to MSRP, especially in parts of Europe, which will likely be good news for anyone who’s been waiting to purchase PC hardware. With new-gen looming ahead, many have been wondering what both these tech giants' offerings will be like, and naturally there have been more than a few rumors flying around.
This latest one comes from Videocardz, stating thatNvidiamay be planning to launch its upcoming RTX 4090 in August of this year. This rumored schedule also states that the RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 may be hitting the shelves in September and October, respectively. However, as the report goes on to say, these dates could very well change as time moves forward, but it does align with the fact that previous speculations have said that team green will be looking to launch its Ada Lovelace range within the next few months, with AMD looking to do similar.

It’s also interesting to note thatNvidia may be unveiling the RTX 40-series this summer, possible in July, so again, that could all line up nicely with these new release dates. In these closing moments of the Ampere and RDNA 2 products, both Nvidia and bitter rivals AMD are still looking to push a number of GPUs out the door before the world is ready to welcome in the next generation of graphics hardware. For example, the GTX 1630, a low-end card that’s based off the Turing architecture, is due to be launched at some point in the near future.
Even more intriguing is howNvidia may be launching the RTX 4090 first, followed by the 4080 and 4070, which is a little different to how it did things for the current Ampere range. At the very least, it would seem to make sense purely based on the numbering system, going from the highest and working down to mid-range and finally entry-level GPUs, but that’s just conjecture at this stage.
With the newest entrantsIntel having yet to release its Arc desktop graphics card, it still looks likeNvidiaand AMD are the only ones in the race. In any case, things are starting to hot up for the next era of GPUs, and it will be interesting to see how all three companies fare in the industry going forward, especially with the shortages still ongoing.
