The following contains spoilers for episode 3 of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.Viewers were treated to a number of laugh-out-loud moments in the latest episode ofShe-Hulk: Attorney at Lawon Disney Plus. But as funny as the show is on its own, it rocketed things up to 11 with its big cameo in episode 3, which saw rapper and recording legend Megan Thee Stallion show up as herself in a payoff for one of the episode’s bizarre B-plot.

But audiences weren’t the only ones who were delighted at the music star’s appearance. Tatiana Maslany, who plays attorney and heroShe-Hulk/Jennifer Walters herself, was absolutely thrilled when she found out about the casting. “I probably was pretty close to tears with excitement,” Maslany said when speaking withVariety. “I’m such a big fan of hers.” Interestingly enough, however, Megan Thee Stallion was apparently only one possibility of many.

The plot of Jennifer’s coworker Dennis Bukowski (Drew Matthews) getting hoodwinked by a shapeshifter into thinking he was dating a celebrity was actually concocted beforeMegan Thee Stallion was decided onfor the celebrity in question. In the same interview with Variety,She-Hulklead writer Jessica Gao revealed that the decision shifted around quite a bit before ending up with the plot seen in the episode. “There was a big, varied list of different people that constantly changed,” Gao explained. “And the type of celebrity really ebbed and flowed, too, depending on what kind of jokes we wanted to make.”

As if that wasn’t enough, the initial suggestion to use Megan Thee Stallion was actually proposed bynone other than Jameela Jamil, who plays Titania onShe-Hulk. This came about after working with the rapper on the HBO Max seriesLegendary, giving a convenient throughline for the cameo to happen. It looks like Maslany has Jamil to thank for this little dream come true.

“That was like the highlight of my life,” Maslany continued. “When [Gao] was like, ‘We’re writing you a scene where you’re dancing with her,’ I basically died. Like, I fell off the planet. I fixated on that moment for two weeks, and I couldn’t talk to her. I didn’t know how to be around her.” If nothing else, that’s a testament toMaslany’s acting skills, because she looked right at home dancing next to her idol in the episode’s mid-credits scene.

If episode 3 ofShe-Hulkis anything to go by, this series has plenty more laughs and surprises in store before it finishes up. Some might argue that the show finally came into its own in this episode, and if that’s the case, the prospect of more at this same level of quality is certainly an enticing one.
