Sometimes these discoveries come about from people playing a modded version of the game or a newer version than the one that was available at launch.
SinceSkyrim’s initial release in 2011, Bethesda has re-released the game on multiple occasions. Players canfish and maintain aquariums inThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition, with new fish types added to the open world to make the features more interesting. One such new fish type is the vampire fish, which Reddit user XxToosterxX just recently stumbled on for the first time despite having 1000s of hours of time invested in the game. Since the vampire fish were added as part of the game’sAnniversary Edition, it makes sense that the Reddit user has found one for the first time while playing the Switch version of theAnniversary Edition.
Some comments on the post suggested that this vampire fish was the result of aSkyrimmod, but the Reddit user said that they were actually playing the Nintendo Switch version ofSkyrim - Anniversary Edition. WhileSkyrim - Anniversary Editionhit most platforms in November 2021, Switch gamers had to wait nearly a year later to get their hands on the new content.
At first, theSwitch port ofSkyrim - Anniversary Editionhad some performance problemsthat weren’t present in the original version of the game. Luckily, Bethesda looked into the issues and released an update that patched things up, so now Switch owners should be able to play theAnniversary Editionwithout having to worry about having a subpar experience.
AnylongtimeSkyrimplayersthat have yet to tryAnniversary Editionmay want to give it a go. Thanks to all the new content added through the Creation Club, it’s quite likely that they too will make some fresh discoveries, even if they have logged thousands of hours in the base version of the game.
