Summary

The first major arc ofSpy x Family’s second seasonkicks off as Shaty Grey’s location is leaked to the assassins after her and her son’s life. Caught by surprise by their sudden attacks, Yor is forced to fend off attackers while leading the Grey family to a safer location. It’s a high-stakes, action-heavy episode that is far from the fluffy slice-of-life stories we’ve had so far.
Fans who were bemoaning Yor’s lack of focus in the previous season can rejoice, as this arc has her not only front and center but also in the midst of her assassin work. The series has shown her doing her work before, but always in shaded, dark scenes that don’t show much of the action. This time, however, the action is the focus, and there’s no better character to show off the kind of fight scene Spy x Family can pull off besides Yor.
Danger Lurking In The Darkness
After enjoying a lovely dinner in the ship’s dining hall, Shaty and Yor return to their cabin while Mr. Grey and Matthew McMahon, Yor’s boss at workand fellow member of Garden, take a stroll through the ship. Yor remains vigilant about the possibility of an attack, and once again affirms that she will protect Shaty no matter what. Shaty is impressed but asks Yor if she is going to be able to see her family during the cruise. Yor isn’t sure, but Shaty tells her to take the time to see them once her job is completed.
Meanwhile, McMahon notices an assassin tailing him and Mr. Grey, and falls behind to catch him by surprise. He quickly incapacitates and interrogates the assassin, learning that there is no one person in charge of the assassins on the ship. Instead, it is a free-for-all, and someone is selling information on Olka Gretcher’s location to anyone who wants it. McMahon kills and disposes of the assassin before quickly rushing Mr. Grey back to his cabin before he is attacked again. He asks Grey if there was an information leak, and Grey admits that he made a call to his parents before disappearing for good.
The Chaos Begins
Back at the cabin, a knock at the door spooks Yor and Shaty. Yor checks the peephole and is relieved to see room service from the other side, but Shaty tells her that she hasn’t ordered room service. Shots suddenly burst from the dooras Yor springs to protect Shaty and her child. The assassin goes to reload, but is stopped by an arriving McMahon and killed by Yor. After bringing the body in to the cabin, McMahon tells Yor that their location has been compromised and to take the Greys to an empty cabin in second class. Since there is a possibility that a commotion on the ship could cause it to turn around, he tells Yor not to draw attention, and to avoid fighting unless it is absolutely necessary.
Meanwhile, the various assassins on the ship meet up as they continue to receive news from their informant. One of the assassins realizes that Garden is in charge of protecting the target, so he suggests teaming up to take down the target. One assassin suggests simply killing any woman with a baby on board, but he is quickly silenced by the other assassins, who condemn the idea of senseless murdering. They insist on their professionalism and skill before tossing the assassin overboard.
Escorting The Greys
Yor guides the Greys through the second floor, with all of them masked to hide their identities. Mr. Grey worries that the masks will make them more suspicious, but Yor tells him that there is a masquerade in the second lounge, so they will not stand out. Yor notices that they are being followed, and takes the Greys through the masquerade while surreptitiously dealing with any assassins that attempt to approach them. Yor and the Greys make it out of the masquerade, but they are far from safe.
Anya and Loid, meanwhile, are browsing the various shops in the ship’s shopping area. While Loid tries to ignore Anya’s tantrum when he refuses to buy her a strange trinket, he suddenly becomes worried that not buying it might make him seem suspiciousand struggles to figure out what a normal father would do. Suddenly, Anya notices the appearance of a dangerous assassin called Sickle and Chain Barnaby, and realizes that Yor is about to fight with him. Anya begins to worry that Loid will see Yor and want a divorce, so she tells him that he is not properly playing the role of a fun dad. Struck by her comments, Loid endeavors to become a cool and fun dad, and runs to the fitting room to find a suitable outfit. While he’s distracted, Anya runs out just in time to see the fight between Barnaby and Yor begin.
