Stranger Thingswill end soon, but it’s confirmed that the franchise will live on in spin-offs, games, and other media. So, when rumors about anElevenspin-off were circulating, it seemed entirely plausible that this was something Netflix might be working on. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like that’s the case.

Stranger Thingsshot its young cast to stardom. Of all the younger cast members, perhapsthe most well-known is Millie Bobby Brown. Her role as Eleven is one of the series' most iconic characters, and she has consistently been praised, season after season, for her vulnerable, emotional performances. Brown’s star continues to rise as she puts more roles under her belt, but Eleven is still her most well-known character.

When a publication claimed Brown was working on the Eleven spin-off, the Stranger Writers Twitter account corrected the record. The writers responded with a simple, “Not true.” The Duffer Brothers have previously announced a separate spin-off. An anime take on the seriestitledStranger Things: Tokyowill bring the Upside Down action to Japan. Set in the 1980s, two video game-obsessed twin brothers living on the outskirts of Tokyo will embark on the adventure of a lifetime when strange things begin occurring in their neighborhood. It’s unclear what connection the series will have to the main TV show or if any of Hawkins' cast members might transition to animation.

Brown has also commented on theStranger Thingsspin-off, saying that she’s ready for her time onStranger Thingsto end. Brown stated she’s ready to shift her focus onto her popularEnola Holmesfranchise, where she plays Sherlock Holmes' inquisitive younger sister. However, Brown said she would help any new, young actresses who join theStranger Thingsfranchise adjust to fame.

Stranger Thingsseason 5 is set to begin filmingthis year, and the production is shrouded in secrecy. What fate awaits Eleven and whether or not she’ll even survive the events of the fifth season remains to be seen. Given that it’s been nearly eight years that Brown has been working on the series, it’s no surprise she’s ready to move on from the role. The idea that the cast will sign on for a spin-off seems like an unlikely prospect. Many of the cast members are young actors who likely need to diversify the roles they take if they want to craft a lasting career. Ultimately, most characters will likely receive a proper send-off (and a cap on their emotional arcs) by the end ofStranger Things.
