Hermaeus Mora’s Apocrypha is one of the most intriguing yet dangerous realms of Oblivion, soon to be featured inThe Elder Scrolls Online. It is adorned in seas of ink, writhing masses of tentacle creatures, more books than history will ever remember. The most interesting thing about it however, is the fact its books come from every point in time, which could includeThe Elder Scrolls 6’s time.
Apocrypha contains knowledge from the past, present, and event the future. After all, Hermaeus Mora’s goal is to hoard knowledge in his realm. InThe Elder Scrolls Onlinehe will likely keep this trait, and may even contain spoilers to come for future games, such asThe Elder Scrolls 6.

How Elder Scrolls Online’s Apocrypha Could Tease Elder Scrolls 6
The Elder Scrolls Onlinehas never been averse to messing with the concept of time when it comes to its storylines. Throughout the history ofThe Elder Scrolls, the player has constantly gone back in time to accomplish their goals. Daedric realms are a different story however, as their flow of time is dependent on what the ruling Daedric Prince favors it to be. Apocrypha is different however, as it seemingly exists at every point in time. This sense of eternity makes it perfect forThe Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom’s Lovecraftian horror themes, and even better for containing teasers forThe Elder Scrolls 6.
There are a near infinite number of ways it could do this. For a previous example, an NPC named Eno Romari inThe Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowindspoils the central conflict ofThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, years before its release.Elder Scrolls Online’s Apocrypha could do the same thing by subtlety hinting at it under everyone’s noses. While it may make no sense in the moment, it could retroactively be one of the greatest spoilers to exist within the franchise. There are a variety of plot points ZeniMax could work with, such as implications for what the true goals of the modern Aldmeri Dominion are, or who the newantagonist ofThe Elder Scrolls 6could be.
The story the new expansion will center aroundThe Elder Scrolls Online: Necrom’s Hermaeus Moraas he contracts the player to protect a secret that could unravel all reality. While little is known about this secret, it could itself be a good way of teasingThe Elder Scrolls 6. It is popularly theorized that the Aldmeri Dominion’s true goals are to destabilize reality in order to return to their previous forms as immortal spirits among the gods. This secret could be the key to their plans, and could stay untold inThe Elder Scrolls Onlineonly to be fully revealed through the events ofThe Elder Scrolls 6.
While not as relevant, it could also make reference to events seen in games that take place in the future. The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr’s Nahfahlaar is a dragon that originally appeared inThe Elder Scrolls: Redguard. Considering the timeline, perhapsThe Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim’s Miraak, who should still be in Apocrypha at the time, could make an appearance. Due to his allegiance to Hermaeus Mora, he could even serve as an ally to the player. It could also give context to Miraak, deepening the reason behind his motivations and himself as a character.
Now that theElder Scrolls Online: Necromcinematic trailerhas premiered, it’s clear that players are in for quite a bit of mystery and intrigue this year. Whether that includes teasers forThe Elder Scrolls 6is up to the developer. ZeniMax Online Studios developsThe Elder Scrolls Onlineand not Bethesda Game Studios, but there is still a chance for collaboration forTES6’s sake.
The Elder Scrolls Onlineis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
