The Marvelsreleased a new image showing off the upcomingCaptain Marvelsequel’s eclectic cast, and the movie’s triumvirate of superpowered stars look as eccentrically fashionable as one might expect from a franchise featuring a talking raccoon who likes big guns.
Hopes are high forThe MarvelsafterMs. Marvelwas one of 2022’s best superhero shows. So fans are understandably eager to see more of not only Iman Vellani’s endearingly energetic Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, but her costars as well. As a functional sequel of sorts toCaptain Marvel,Ms. Marvel, and evenWandaVision,The Marvelswill star Vellani alongside Brie Larson as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel and Teyonah Parris as the newly-superpowered Monica Rambeau in a highly-anticipated team-up. Now, after a previous poster forThe Marvelsteased the new outfits, a new image from Marvel Studios has finally revealed a much better view of how each character will look in the movie.

Marvel Studios (viaThe Direct) just released an image with a clear look at the new outfits for each of the heroes inThe Marvels, and the results might bring on a bit of heated discussion in fan circles. Larson’s Captain Marvel might look the most on brand, sporting a slightly less “busy” version of her classic blue and red suit. Meanwhile, Vellani’s look seems to be going in the opposite direction, with a much more stylized take on the outfit fans associate with her. Finally, Parris comes in with a black and white design reminiscent of Monica’s more recent stylings in her appearances as the hero Photon in the Marvel comics.
The Marvelswill feature the 3 heroes in a collaboration of necessity as their powers become somehow entangled. Every time one uses their abilities, they swap places with one of the others. It’s a unique premise for a Marvel film, but it’s certainly one way to facilitate theheartwarming on-set friendship between Vellani and Larson. But it also further develops Parris' character Monica after she gained her powers at the latter end ofWandaVision.
The suits will likely inspire some debate among fans, despite theshockingly good reactions fromThe Marvelstest screenings. This is particularly probable about Vellani’s new look, which ditches the more simple design seen in her new suit at the end ofMs. Marvelin favor of something far flashier. But even Parris and Larson may be in for a bit of discourse. For one, the former’s outfit has an almost indescribable quality reminiscent of the comics themselves, which doesn’t necessarily translate to live-action as well as it could. Meanwhile, the latter could be improved immensely by including a gold or red belt to break up the uniform colors below the chest area.
Of course, there’s plenty more to discuss, includingother actors inThe Marvelslike Park Seo-joon. But the outfits are a pretty interesting change. Despite the rather bombastic new design choices, they still fit the characters and will likely look pretty darn awesome during the inevitable huge superhero battle. Every hero fight needs some color, after all.
The Marvelswill release theatrically in the US on November 10th, 2023.
