Marvel Studios’WandaVisionhas been a massive success, popular with critics and audiences alike. The show often trends on social media during the weekend after each new episode is released, but the massive popularity ofWandaVisioncaused a Disney+ crash when the finale was released.
The finale ofWandaVisionpremiered at midnight pacific time, as the rest of the episodes have done. With so many users going online so they could watch the finale right away, Disney+ crashed in the early hours of Friday morning. The crash mostly affected users on the West Coast of North America, where there was more likely to be large numbers of people awake to watch the episode immediately, almost certainly due to the fact that it would have been 3:00 in the morning on the East Coast.

A website that tracks outages on major websites and streaming platforms, Downdetector, reported a huge spike in reports from Disney+ users regarding technical problems right after theWandaVisionfinale premiered. Several disgruntled users posted screenshots of the message they received when they went on Disney+ to try and watchWandaVision. The message on the screen read, “We’re sorry, but we cannot play the video you requested. Please try again. If the problem persists, contact Disney+ Support (Error Code 39).”
It is no surprise that the ninth and final episode ofWandaVisionwas so heavily in demand immediately. Each episode of the show since it’s begun has been eagerly anticipated by fans. In the finale,fans who developed multipleWandaVisiontheorieswere likely hoping to receive answers to some major mysteries of the show, as well as hints as to where the characters could go in the MCU from here. Marvel Studios’Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madnessis confirmed to be taking place after the events ofWandaVision, but what elements of the show will be carried forward into the movie had yet to be revealed before the finale.
Of course, perhaps the Disney+ crash should have been anticipated considering the level of online chatterWandaVisionprompted every Friday since the series premiered. Though Disney+ didn’t suffer much from the discussions, fans who couldn’t watch the episodes right away may have felt like they had to put in a lot of effort to avoid being spoiled, which happened to many whenthe surprise appearance by Evan Peters' Quicksilverstarted trending on Twitter on the morning the episode in which he arrived was released.
With the finale ofWandaVision, the next Disney+ show that Marvel fans have to look forward to isThe Falcon and The Winter Soldier. The series, starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, premieres on August 08, 2025. Afterward, Tom Hiddleston’sLokiwill premiere in June,andWhat If…?is currently slated to arrivein the summer of 2021.
