YouTube personality TimTheTatman has asked for hisCall of DutyOperator bundle to be removed following Activision’s delisting of NICKMERCS’ Operator bundle on the heels of the streamer’s anti-LGBTQIA+ comments. Earlier this year it was announced thatTimTheTatman is working on a battle royale game with Ninjaand other top streamers set to release sometime in 2024.Making his Twitch debut back in 2012, TimTheTatman became one of the most popular and well-known personalities on the online platform before signing an exclusive contract with YouTube in 2021. After establishing a career built in large part on his streams of various first-person shooter games, earlier this year TimTheTatman finally made his first appearance as a playable character in one. As part of the latest group of pop culture figures to show up in Activision’s hit franchise,TimTheTatman and NICKMERCS Operator skinswere added toCall of Duty: Warzone 2andModern Warfare 2in May, giving fans of the two popular streamers the chance to play as their digital doppelgangers.RELATED:Hasan Criticizes Dr Disrespect for Uninstalling Call of Duty and Supporting NICKMERCSIn a new post on his Twitter account, TimTheTatman has asked for hisCall of DutyOperator bundle to be taken out of the game following the removal of the NICKMERCS Operator bundle earlier this week. The tweet highlighted the friendship between the two streamers, with TimTheTatman stating that “It feels wrong for me to have mine and him no longer have his.” The Operator bundle forNICKMERCS was removed fromCall of Dutyafter the streamer made a tweet that appeared to show support for a group of anti-LGBTQIA+ protestors who attacked demonstrators outside a Glendale, California school board meeting. The controversial tweet stating that members of the LGBTQIA+ community should “leave little children alone” came during Pride Month and as members of the community have increasingly become the target of attacks and violent rhetoric throughout the United States.
Although TimTheTatman’s request to have his Operator skin removed fromCall of Dutymay come as a surprise to some gamers, he isn’t the first high-profile content creator to come to NICKMERCS’ defense following the streamer’s controversial comments. Fellow YouTube streamerDr Disrespect uninstalledCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2in protest of the removal of the NICKMERCS skin and called for an apology from the game’s developers. No stranger to controversy himself, Dr Disrespect had his E3 badge revoked in 2019 after the streamer filmed people using a public restroom at the now-defunct gaming trade show.
This request from TimTheTatman is sure to add more fuel to the already raging fire of controversy surrounding the removal of the NICKMERCS Operator bundle from theCall of Dutygames. Whether Activision will honor his request to remove the TimTheTatman skin remains to be seen, but this latest twist in the debate around NICKMERCS’ comments makes it clear that this won’t be the last that gamers hear about this particular controversy.
