It doesn’t happen often, but occasionallyTwitchviewers are privy to problematic aspects of their favorite streamers' lives. One streamer was recently caught on stream getting into an altercation with his drunken stepdad after being attacked.
During a recentHyper Scapestream,Twitchuser SilkySoWhite was in a menu when his stepdad started barking at him. The stepfather was off-screen for most of the verbal back-and-forth as SilkySoWhite’s mother seemingly held him back. The stepfather began his tyrade by criticizing SilkySoWhite for streaming as a source of revenue, to which the streamer stated people were currently watching.

Reddit user codylee123 quickly posted the clip of SilkySoWhite which warned of the violence, but not the offensive language all throughout. When asked about his job, SilkySoWhite described the green screen and the different types of streamers on Twitch. SilkySoWhite’s stepdad became particularly angry when he argued that he could “masturbating in front of a green screen.”
Based on the context of their verbal altercation, the stepdad was offended that SilkySoWhite could make money in his house rather than going to a place of employment. After beingthreatenedwith violence, SilkySoWhite warned his stepdad not to attack because he pays rent money to have the freedom to stream on Twitch if he wants to. The streamer also reminded his stepfather that he’s drunk and should go upstairs, likely to cool down.
Although streaming to countless viewers may deter someone fromassaulting a Twitch streamer, it didn’t stop this stepdad from putting his hands on SilkySoWhite. The stepfather asked SilkySoWhite if he wanted to know how bad he was before shoving the Twitch streamer who was still seated. The stepdad stood over SilkySoWhite before the streamer pushed him off-screen with a smile on his face and punches could be heard connecting with skin.
The clip of SilkySoWhite defending himself while streaming on Twitch has reached nearly 100,000 people on Reddit and countless more outside of the platform. Several other Reddit users took to the trending post to voice support and tell stories of their own abuse. Many others commented on the versatility and durability of SilkySoWhite’s gaming chair and claimed it may have helped him fend off thedrunken attacker.
Considering SilkySoWhite’s reaction to his stepfather’s drunken tirade and his claims that his mom has called the cops on him, it seems like these types of arguments happen more regularly than they should at the SilkySoWhite residence. SilkySoWhite’s mom is also heard off-screen confirming that the cops were on the way and that the stepdad was both drunk and losing being beaten. It’s currently unclear if any charges were pressed once thepolicearrived.
