Gal Gadot may be best known to most movie audiences as Wonder Woman, but in one of her next roles, she’s going to have the opportunity to embrace her darker nature. That’s because theJustice Leaguealum is reportedly going to take on the role of the evil queen inDisney’s upcoming live-action adaptation ofSnow White.
Gadot is already expanding out from her role inWonder Womanwithanother tent-pole picture inRed Notice, but once that’s done, the actress who is best known as fighting baddies will get to be one herself. This will also be the first time she’s been able to take on the role of such a classicDisneycharacter.

The live-actionSnow Whitecast is starting to fill up, as Rachel Zeigler was recently named as the actress who would take on the titular role. Deadline now reports that Gadot is in final negotiations to take on the antagonist role in the film and after some scheduling details were worked out, a deal was closed. The casting forSnow Whitemight be taking quite a while, but the producers reportedly have long had Gadot in mind for the part of the evil queen. It’s said that theWonder Womanactor has been intrigued by the part because of the opportunity to join other well-known actresses such as Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchette, and Emma Stone as iconic Disney villains.
The originalSnow White and the Seven Dwarfscartoon, which was based on the Brothers Grimm fairytale, was released in 1938, three years beforeWonder Woman made her first DC Comics appearance. That movie was the first animated feature film for Disney and was a massive success. Reports are that Disney is going to try and cash in on that success by expanding on the story from the original movie and including music from the classic film. There will also be new music in this live-actionSnow Whitewritten by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the award-winning duo who haveLa La Land,The Greatest Showman,and most recently,Dear Evan Hansenunder their belts.
Gadot certainly knows something about playing a well-known character, whether talking about movies or comic books. Hercasting as the iconic Wonder Womanwas first met with trepidation but it appears most DC comics fans have now accepted her as the face of a hero who’s been around for decades.
