The short video tour of his progress so far is absurd in its quality–the shots from within his recreation look identical to those from thecapital city of the Alliance inWorld of Warcraft.
The replica of Stormwind isn’t done yet, but the parts that are–from the castle to the docks–look incredible. Yunatahel is designing the interiors of the many buildings across Stormwind as well as the exteriors with the same textures and colors as found in the game, down to the color-coded district rooftops. The untrained eye might be unable to tell the difference between Yunatahel’s recreation and the originalStormwind map found withinWorld of Warcraft.
Yunatahel isn’t the first person to recreateWarcraftlocations inMinecraft;players have been doing so since the block-building game first came out. Among the hundreds of examples ofWarcraftcrossovers withMinecraft, a recent example is a recreation ofElysian Hold from theShadowlandsexpansion. Over the last decade, hundreds of locations from Azeroth and beyond can be found all over the internet, made by countless artists.
Yunatahel’s rendition of Stormwind, however, has received a massive amount of attention. Both the official US and FrenchWorld of WarcraftTwitters shared his work and showered him with praise along with hundreds of fans from across the globe. The quality of work has attracted many new eyes to his work, which has emboldened Yunatahel to make the finished product something truly special.
