Although the initial hype may have died down over the last few months, there’s no denying thatWorld of Warcraft: Classicwas a major success for Blizzard. The special servers brought back a lot of retired MMO players who aren’t interested inthe currentBattle for Azerothcontentand also offered a nice alternative activity for players who enjoyBfA, but are mostly just waiting forShadowlandsat this point. As theClassiccontent moves closer and closer to the original game’s first expansion, many players have been wondering how Blizzard plans to handle theBurning Crusadeera.
A new survey sent out to selectWoW Classicplayers seems to suggest that Blizzard is currently trying to figure out how (and if) it should handle the rollout of The Burning Crusade this time around. Heading through the portal for the first time was a major milestone in Azeroth’s history, so it would be pretty exciting to see the Classic community have the chance to relive that experience. But with that in mind, how far can these servers progress before they are no longer capturing what Classic was all about. These are some of the answers Blizzard is currently after.

The survey, released by Blizzard, offers players the chance to give their perspective on how they would want to start tacklingBurning Crusadecontent. Should their Classic server just patch in the new content, should they start a new character from scratch, or start a new character that begins at level 58? It’s a pretty interesting question that offers players a real chance to try to explainwhat they want out of any “Classic” experience.
The survey asked how players would prefer to approach a new character in “Classic” Burning Crusade, with the following options:
Continue playing my current Classic character on my existing server as it progresses to the Burning Crusade expansion, with the option to transfer to a Classic server that will never progress past level 60.
Start a brand new character from level 58 on a new Burning Crusade server.
Start a brand new character from Level 1 on a new Burning Crusade server.
Continue playing my current Classic character on my existing server that will never progress past level 60, with the option to transfer to aBurning Crusadeserver.
The survey also asked Classic players how interested they would be in playing “Classic” Burning Crusade. This survey makes it seem likeClassic Burning Crusadeis still at least a few months, if not a year, away; butWoW Classicplayers should still have plenty of vanilla content to keep themselves busy while the content strategy forTBCis in the works…
