World of Warcraft: Dragonflightoffers players several new uses for their crafting and/or gathering professions, as is typical of a new expansion. Herbalism, for example, can now work with various elemental herbs that exhibit a variety of unusual behaviors when harvested, and which can be overloaded via a new Herbalism skill to provide various additional effects and utility.

World of Warcraft: Dragonflight’s Herbalism skill offers players three different specializations: “Bountiful Harvests,” “Botany,” and “Mastering the Elements.” This guide will break down the benefits of these specializations, explaining how they work and how they can be used to the player’s advantage.

Bountiful Harvests

The Bountiful Harvests specialization gives players extra skill when picking herbs, while also allowing them to refine 5 herbs into a single herb of the next higher quality. To be specific, each point in the Bountiful Harvests Specialization gives +1 skill when gathering herbs.

Players can also grab Horticulture, Arboriculture, Fungiculture, and Floriculture from this tree, which grant even more skill when picking the herbs Hochenblume, Writhebark, Bubble Poppy, and Saxifrage, respectively. These skills also raise the player’sPerception, Deftness, and Finesse when picking the respective herb.

Investing in Bountiful Harvests can be useful for increasing the quality and quantity of resources harvested, while also raising the chances of getting side gathers. These include additional resources collected alongside the herb itself, such as seeds.

Botany

Botany grants abonus to finesse for every point in this specialization, improving the yields from gathering all the base herbs in the Dragon Isles. Completely maxing out Botany allows players to gather herbs while mounted in the Dragon Isles, providing tremendous utility and greatly expediting the process of gathering herbs.

Botany also offers the sub-specializations Cultivation and Conversance.Cultivation grants +1 to perception per pointwhile gathering herbs. Perception raises the chances of getting side gathers like seeds and Rousing Essences when gathering herbs. (Rousing Essences can only be obtained from elemental versions of a given herb.) Meanwhile,Conversance grants +1 deftness per pointwhile gathering herbs. This allows players to gather herbs more quickly, and thus shortens the time spent interacting with each herb node when gathering lots of resources at once.

Considering all these skills together, when it comes to sheer speed and quality of gathering, Botany is easily the strongest specialization for basic herb gathering.

Mastering the Elements

Mastering the Elements gives players+1 skill for each point in the specialization while gathering elementally charged herbs. Additionally, players can now reduce the 12-hour cooldown on their “Overload Elemental Herb” ability simply by picking herbs. It also allows players to extract more Rousing elements from the herbs.

Players can also specialize further into any of the Frigid, Decayed, Titan Touched, or Windswept element herb types. This boosts the player’s deftness, finesse, and perception, when harvesting that type of elemental herb and also reduces any negative effects caused when harvesting them.
