Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duelhas revealed an updated emergency ban of a particular card for the game’s ongoing Xyz Festival, with the card causing major problems for players. Since the debut of the digital TCG early last year, Konami has featured a variety ofevents focused on different deckbuilding restrictions. Events like the Xyz Festival and Synchro Festival have tasked players with building decks revolving around certain Summoning mechanics, while others like N/R Rarity Festival and Legend Anthology have placed unique limitations. Now, the return of the Xyz Festival will see one particular card emergency banned.

The recent return of the Xyz Festival toYu-Gi-Oh Master Duelmarks the second time Konami has featured an event around the Extra Deck mechanic. The Xyz Festival served as the first unique event added toMaster Duelwith players only able to include Xyz Monsters in their Extra Decks. Archetypes like “Zoodiac” and “Numeron” thrived in the event’s last run with the decks becoming some of the most powerful options for players to use. Now, however, one card in particular is causing unexpected issues with theMaster Duelevent.

A new update fromYu-Gi-Oh Master Duelhas revealed the Monster card Flying “C” will be banned from the Xyz Festival effective immediately. Flying “C” serves as one ofYu-Gi-Oh’s lineup of “hand trap” cards, allowing players to activate its effect to Special Summon to their opponent’s field when they Summon a Monster. The controller of Flying “C” is then unable to Xyz Summon, locking players out of the event’s primary Extra Deck mechanic. The Flying “C” ban serves as one of the first times Konami has emergency banned a card inYu-Gi-Oh Master Duel.

While emergency banlists are more uncommon inMaster Duel, the banning of Flying “C” goes with previous efforts to restrict cards that lock players out of the Extra Deck in events. TheMaster Duelevent already features several banned cards that would stop players from using their Extra Deck, including Artifact Scytheand Knightmare Corruptor Iblee. Konami’s Extra Deck-focused events also typically ban cards that would look to skirt around the Extra Deck requirement, like the Dogmatika cards and Eldlich the Golden Lord.

Banlist updates have become a regular part ofYu-Gi-Oh Master Duelwith each new monthly season typically receiving a new version of the Forbidden and Limited List. The recently revealedMarch update to theMaster Duelbanlistfeatures several hits targeted at the “Runick” deck, as well as other cards coming off the banlist.Master Duelhas also brought back several banned cards before the physical TCG like Ancient Fairy Dragon and Blaster, Dragon Ruler of Infernos. Regular banlist updates and a different release schedule have created aMaster Duelformat that is entirely unique from its TCG counterpart.

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duelis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.
